Breaking Dawn — Part 2
For the second weekend in a row, the vampires have held down the top spot, and with $43 million this go, it seems we should get used to them commanding the lead. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (check out this Pattinson pillow) may not be great offscreen these days, but they’re untouchable in the epic conclusion of the Twilight saga.
Skyfall
Daniel Craig and the 23rd installment of the Bond franchiseSkyfall maintained the No. 2 spot yet again, reeling in some $36 million.
Lincoln
Daniel Day-Lewis brings to life the one-and-only Abraham Lincoln in this compelling biopic, holding down third place in its third weekend with $25 million.
The magical tale of holiday spirit and the heroes behind it debuted with an impressive $24 million, and will surely snowball as the Christmas cheer comes near. Join Santa, Jack Frost, The Easter Bunny, and more as they join forces to protect the innocence of children the world over.
The Life of Pi
The epic film-interpretation of the Yann Martel novel, The Life of Pi, also debuted this weekend with a notable $22 million, painting the compelling adventure of a seaborne survivor who befriends a vicious Bengal tiger.
Wreck-It Ralph
Disney and Pixar’s latest production, Wreck-It Ralph, fought for sixth place among all the new contenders, pulling in $16 million, even beating out the debut Red Dawn remake.
Red Dawn
Chris Hemsworth commands the new band of Wolverines in the revamped Red Dawn. The high-schoolers may have been able to fend off a homeland invasion, but this debut got completely snubbed out by the vampires and Bond, landing a bottom spot with only $14.6 million.
Flight
Flight appears to be on its descent as it drops altitude to the No. 8 seat with $8.6 million in its fourth weekend in theaters.
Argo
Ben Affleck has had quite the run with Argo, pulling in a cumulative $136 million to date, but the holiday season will surely blot out the political thriller in the coming weeks.
Taken 2
After eight weeks in theaters, Taken 2 finally takes a seat at No. 10.
