Jamie Foxx fights for justice in new Django Unchained trailer

The South is rising. Jamie Foxx stars as Django and it’d be in your best interest to stay one step outside of his crosshairs.

From the brilliant mind of Quentin Tarantino comes a killer take on the South.

It’s looking more intense than ever in this new trailer (above) with stars like Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson leading the way on a twisted, revenge-driven bout of justice.

Django Unchained is the story of rough-and-tough former slave Django (Foxx), whose newfound freedom becomes indebted to the bounty hunter (Waltz) who broke his previous bonds. Together, they’re redefining the South one target at a time with each pull of the trigger.

There looks to be some quality action within, but we can definitely expect trademark Tarantino dialogue and a healthy dose of shock value.

In a recent Tarantino interview, the director explained that the film is most assuredly set within a historical context and fueled by the real prejudice of the South, but he’s woven in some surprises.

“Every once in a while films don’t play by the rules. It’s liberating when you don’t know what’s happening next,” he said in the interview.

At the heart of it all is a love story: the slave trade and a wicked Calvin Candie (DiCaprio) have stolen Django’s wife from him.

Although he may be out offing criminals with Waltz, Django’s on a personal mission to rescue his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), from the confines of Candie’s infamous plantation, Candyland, which prides itself on its treacherous ways.

Bet your shorts there’s going to be a confrontation when Django sees what Candie’s put his wife through.

Saddle up, Django Unchained rides into theaters this Christmas.
