Eli Young Band’s 2013 means Kenny Chesney & a new album

The boys behind “Crazy Girl” and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” the Eli Young Band, have big plans for 2013.

The Eli Young Band has had a monumental year. Their song, “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” has been all over the radio, television, and awards shows. With 2013 just around the corner, what’s in store for next year?

To begin with, they’re going on tour with the one and only Kenny Chesney. It doesn’t get much bigger than that.

“Stadiums,” said James Young, as SheKnows caught up with the band on the red carpet at the American Country Awards.

Kenny Chesney has been filling stadiums for more than a decade and now it’s the Eli Young Band’s turn to stand in front of those crowds, too.

Are they nervous?

“It’s just kind of a daunting task to think about, ya know?” Young said. He’s more excited than concerned, though. “It’s gonna be great. We couldn’t ask for a bigger, better tour.”

Their second album, Life at Best, was released in 2011, and featured their chart-topping songs “Even If It Breaks your Heart” and “Crazy Girl.” It’s been roughly two years since that album, though, so it’s definitely time for another new one.

“We just went and started the very beginning of pre-production for this record,” Jon Jones told SheKnows. “So, it’s a bunch of new songs that we’ve written and we’re really excited about the direction they’re going.”

Don’t expect any insane direction changes, though. They aren’t bad boys, nor do they plan to do much sulking.

“We’ve always tried to get, you know, a band sound,” Jones said. “We like to go out and have a real organic vibe.”

“We’re taking the reins a little more on this one,” Chris Thompson said. “Any time you can put your own lyrics to music and see how it turns out in the studio, that’s an amazing feeling.”

Sounds good to us! The Eli Young Band doesn’t need to play into any gimmicks or fill any stereotypes to keep us happy, as long as they keep making music.
