From the team that brought us the swashbuckling good times of Pirates of the Caribbean comes a brand-new Johnny Depp adventure cast in the Wild West. This is The Lone Ranger like you’ve never seen him before.
Johnny Depp’s hanging up the sword for the saddle in this brand-new trailer from Disney and the crew that brought us Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s a time in the West when “good men must wear masks,” as the voiceover declares.
The Lone Ranger is a revamped look at the untold tale of John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law who transforms into a legend of justice, as recalled by the Native American spirit warrior, Tonto (Depp).
The perfect balance of humor and unbridled action, The Lone Ranger explores the Wild West journey that pairs the two unlikely partners against corruption and greed. Tonto’s convinced that Reid is the hand of righteousness he’s been waiting for, and he even brandishes a fitting badge.
The crooks may think Reid is dead, but they’d better think again, because he’s coming for them and he’s got all the wit and craft of Tonto behind him each and every step of the way.
With shootouts and dynamite, bows and arrows, train chases and horse whispering, this trailer gives us just a glimpse of the vibrant ride this movie’s sure to take us on.
And luckily for us, the producers stuck to a formula that works. Tonto appears as though he could be Captain Jack’s brother from another mother. Sure he’s swapped out the dreads for some braids and the Black Pearl for a stallion, but they’re letting Depp do what Depp does best.
Helena Bonham Carter and Tom Wilkinson also join the cast, making for quite the ensemble.
The Lone Ranger rides into theaters July 3, 2013, and we can’t wait!
