Big names in the world of DVD releases this week! Find out which ones flopped and which demand your attention.
1) End of Watch
Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena were some of L.A.’s finest. They were the rock stars of California law and any day on the job could mean fist fights, high speed chases or drug busts. It was their dream job. The two thrived on the adrenaline and the power that came with it, but when one discovery pins them up against the brutality of a Mexican drug cartel, the joy ride hits a serious note and the two must band together if they hope to see the light of day. Anna Kendrick also stars.
Rotten Tomatoes: 85% Fresh
2) To Rome with Love
From the brilliant mind of Woody Allen comes this hilarious, multi- dimensional perspective on the many romances, adventures, complications and politics that unfold in Italy when you mix a cast like Penelope Cruz, Ellen Page, Alec Baldwin and more.
Rotten Tomatoes: 43% splat
3) The Paperboy
This flick didn’t get much love from the critics over at Rotten Tomatoes, but we figure our SheKnows readers might give it a shot considering it stars Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman. The Paperboy centers around a murder mystery and an allegedly unjust sentence, but the sensuous twists and turns take center stage as the stars manipulate one another to suit their innermost desires.
Rotten Tomatoes: 39% splat
4) Won’t Back Down
Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis are committed to salvaging quality education in their children’s chronically underserved, inner-city school. Won’t Back Down is a testament to powerful parenting and the bonds that form in the pursuit of a better community.
Rotten Tomatoes: 33% splat
5) Taken 2
Liam Neeson is back with round two of the Taken series. The plot is fairly predictable if you’ve seen the first movie, but that doesn’t mean the suspense won’t hold your interest all the way through.
Rotten Tomatoes: 21% Splat
