Adele‘s 49-year-old father, estranged from his famous daughter after giving a 2011 interview, says he’s going public with his story in a bid to get back in touch.
Adele continues to have relationship problems with her father.
“I’ve got mates who I see with their grandchildren and I can’t bear to watch,” says Adele‘s father, Mark Evans, who’s been estranged from his daughter for years.
The two had a troubled relationship ever since Evans left Adele’s mother when the singer was just 3 years old. Since then, their relationship has been off and on, and decidedly off when Evans gave an interview after the release of his privacy-loving daughter’s smash album, 21.
Evans said the only reason he gave the interview is that Adele had told him they should do an interview together and “get it all out in the open.”

“I assumed from the fact she wanted to do an interview with me, she wouldn’t mind me going ahead on my own,” he told the Daily Mail. “I genuinely believed I was doing her a favour by speaking about how proud I was of her and how ashamed I was for my shortcomings as a parent.”
Instead, Adele was furious. Days later, Adele’s mom, Penny, called to relay her daughter’s anger and hung up on him. “That was the last contact I had with either of them.”
Adele wouldn’t talk to Evans any more, but she did open up to Vogue in February of 2012: “I was actually ready to start trying to have a relationship with him. He’s f**king blown it. He will never hear from me again,” Adele told Vogue. “There’s consequences other than just getting a big of f**king money that lasts you half a year. It blows my mind. ‘I love her so much.’ Really? Why are you telling me that through a newspaper? If I ever see him I will spit in his face.”
Soooooo, maybe giving a Daily Mail interview this week wasn’t the best way of getting back in touch?

In a touch that will no doubt further nettle Adele, Evans criticized her much-talked-about son’s name: “Not only did I hear I was going to be a grandad [sic] for the first time via the media, I found out the same way that she’s calling the baby Angelo James. I’d hoped so much that she’d put my late dad’s name, John, in there somewhere, but alas it looks as if it is not going to be,” he told the Daily Mail. “I’m not sure why she’s chosen James, other than a reference to James Bond, and God alone knows where Angelo has come from. It’s very LA, isn’t it?”
Oooh, that’s going to frost Adele’s shorts.
For his part, Evans claims he’s not interested in his daughter’s money and fame. He just wants to see her, and his grandson: “I want to do all the grandad stuff with him — feed the ducks in [the] park, skim pebbles in the sea, splash around in the surf,” he told the Daily Mail.
