Kim Kardashian and Kanye West continue to make headlines, but this time it was for something they didn’t do. Thanks to an American Airlines employee, they managed to breach TSA security and delay an entire plane of passengers heading to LA.

Sometimes the perks of fame will get you the best table at a restaurant or a free vacation, but special privileges from TSA? That’s exactly what happened with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Tuesday.
The couple were returning from their paparazzi-covered trip to Brazil and went through customs. An American Airlines employee allowed them to bypass security to make their domestic flight back to Los Angeles.
The Transportation Security Administration told TMZ, “An airline employee escorted the two travelers through a non-public area in order to provide expedited access to their domestic flight. In doing so, the airline employee violated security protocols.”

This breach was discovered by TSA officers, who removed Kardashian and her baby-daddy from the flight and screened them on the jetway. This series of events resulted in their connecting flight being delayed for an hour, inconveniencing the other passengers onboard.
In an official statement, American Airlines addressed the issue:
“This was a lapse in judgment by one of our employees. We’re working closely with the TSA and speaking to the individuals involved to better understand what happened. The flight in question departed JFK an hour late. It was delayed in part because of this issue and in part because a number of connecting bags were late arriving to the aircraft.”
Kardashian and West are not being blamed for the incident, but the American Airlines employee who escorted them past security is now under investigation.
The lesson learned here? Don’t mess with the TSA! Airport security officers don’t care if you are rich and famous.
