Alec Baldwin vs Shia LaBeouf: Who’s the bigger hothead?

When news broke that Shia LaBeouf had hastily bailed on the Broadway play Orphans due to a “disagreeable situation” with Alec Baldwin, it didn’t exactly come as a shock since both have honed reputations as hotheads. We rate some of their best rants from one “hothead” (meh, small potatoes) to five “hotheads” (full-scale meltdown).

Shia LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf’s never been one to mince words, and in August 2012, his lack of a filter got the best of then-girlfriend Karolyn Pho. Shortly after revealing in an MTV interview that he’d be down (or up, maybe?) for having real sex in his upcoming film, The Nymphomaniac, LaBeouf was seen fighting on a Los Angeles street with a tearful Pho. The disheveled actor appeared visibly upset as his lovelorn lady screamed and cried.

In October of 2011, LaBoeuf stumbled out of the Cinema Public House bar in Vancouver late at night after reportedly arguing with several patrons. But, alas, the belligerent actor managed to find a fight just as easily on the street — viral internet clips quickly surfaced showing LaBoeuf being pummeled by a shirtless man and subsequently restrained by strangers. Shea Carter, one of those strangers, alleged that the actor had threatened to pull a knife on him.

Once again, LaBoeuf’s loose lips caused a stir when he divulged details of an on-set scuffle while filming Lawless. In an interview with Details magazine, LaBeouf said he and co-star Tom Hardy had tussled. LaBeouf implied that he had come out on top, remarking that Hardy “never did that roughhouse stuff with me again.”

Hardy jokingly played it up in interviews, deadpanning, “I got knocked out by Shia LaBeouf, actually.”

We love us some Walgreens too, but LaBeouf took his love for the pharmacy to the next level in November 2007 when he refused to leave. Around 2:30 a.m., a security guard at the chain’s Chicago storefront called the police after Shia staged a stand-in of sorts — he wouldn’t leave even after repeated requests from store clerks. Ultimately, police handcuffed LaBeouf and escorted him away, although they did note he was “courteous” to the cops.

Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin’s “disagreeable situation” with LaBeouf follows closely on the heels of an altercation the veteran actor had earlier this month. When approached by a reporter about a lawsuit involving his wife, Hilaria, Baldwin lost his cool.

According to the reporter, Tara Palmeri, an angry Alec grabbed her by the arm and told her, “I want you to choke to death.”

Further compounding the matter, G.N. Miller — a retired NYPD detective and current staff photographer for The Post — cited in his police report that Baldwin referred to him as a “coon, a drug dealer.”

Clearly, Baldwin doesn’t mess around when it comes to Hilaria. In June 2012, he felt crowded by paparazzi after picking up his license to marry his then-fiancée. This led to — you guessed it! — another streetside scuffle. The New York Daily News reported that the actor was assaulting photographer Jefferson Siegel when Siegel’s fellow photog Marcus Santos stepped in. Baldwin then turned on Santos, “shoving and punching” the shutterbug before storming off.

If we had to wager, we’d be willing to put down money that Baldwin won’t be flying American Airlines again anytime soon. In December of 2011, the actor was kicked off a flight with the airline. When asked to turn off his cell phone, Baldwin took it into the plane’s lavatory, slamming the door so loudly even the cockpit crew heard it. The airline also claimed on its Facebook page that Baldwin had called the crew names and used obscene language. Alec’s explanation? He didn’t want to lose a game of Words With Friends, duh!

The most notorious of Baldwin’s tantrums came in April of 2007, when some nasty personal voicemails were leaked to TMZ. The intended target of the messages was his then 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, whom he infamously called a “rude, thoughtless pig.”

In an interview with Page Six Magazine last year, Ireland defended her dad, saying that people made it out to be a “way bigger deal than it was.”
