Designer Whitney Port was a bit surprised by some of the looks the A-listers wore at the 2013 Academy Awards.

Big surprises on the red carpet

Jennifer Lawrence

Whitney definitely loved Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior Haute Couture gown, but she wasn’t expecting it.

“I was surprised by the Jennifer Lawrence’s princess dress,” Whitney told SheKnows.

Amanda Seyfried

Whitney wasn’t too crazy about actress Amanda Seyfried’s costume Alexander McQueen gown, but she did love at least one part of her look.

“Amanda Seyfried having her hair up was a pleasant surprise,” the designer said.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston (and hubby-to-be Justin Theroux!) screamed for attention in her red Valentino gown.

“It was very unlike her,” Whitney said. It’s true: Aniston usually opts for black, like the leather dress she wore at the People’s Choice Awards.

Stacy Keibler

George Clooney’s best accessory wasn’t his Best Picture Oscar for Argo — it was his girlfriend, Stacy Keibler!

“I also thought Stacy Keibler looked really beautiful and sophisticated,” Whitney said. “Not in my best dressed, but the detailing on her gown was pretty cool.”

What was she thinking?

Olivia Munn

Marchesa is usually the height of fashion, but the Marchesa gown actress Olivia Munn wore at the Oscars missed the mark.

“I usually love her but it looked outdated,” Whit said.

Jessica Chastain

Many red carpet watchers loved Jessica Chastain’s Armani gown, but Whitney wasn’t sold.

“I was a bit underwhelmed by Jessica Chastain,” Whitney said. “I think they played it a little too safe and wore dresses we’ve seen before. Still beautiful, but not a wow.”
