Halle Berry has confirmed that she will play Storm in the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past.
Rumors that Halle Berry will reprise her role as Storm in the latest X-Men film have been confirmed.
In a new interview with BlackTreeTV, the Oscar-winning actress said that she’s “excited” to join the cast of the highly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past.
“The fans really love Storm, and so I’m really happy that it’s worked out that way,” Berry said. “No matter what my part will be or won’t be, to be a part of that is always a good thing. I love it.”
Storm, a powerful, take-charge mutant, is arguably one of her most beloved characters to date. Berry previously took on the role in X-Men, (2000), X2 (2003), and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).
It’s still unclear how large a role Storm will play in Days of Future Past.
The comic book film will serve as a follow-up to the 2011 prequel, X-Men: First Class. The latest installment of the blockbuster franchise is said to take place at various points in time — allowing actors from First Class and those from the earlier X-Men flicks to appear in the film.
Days of Future Pastboasts an impressive cast list that includes Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Peter Dinklage.
It was announced last week that French actor Omar Sy, who starred in the French dramedy The Intouchables, is also set to appear in the film.
Directed by Bryan Singer, the action flick will include appearances from notable X-Men alum like Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin and Ellen Page.
Berry is currently promoting The Call, a thriller about a 911 operator’s attempt to save a kidnapped teenager (Abigail Breslin).
Last year she starred in the drama Cloud Atlas with Tom Hanks, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant.
Days of Future Past is slated to begin filming this April and is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2014.
