We’d be the last ones to jump on the Taylor Swift-bashing bandwagon, but you’d have to be pretty oblivious to not notice that the girl doesn’t do well with conflict. She prefers to get even the passive-aggressive way — through songs, magazine interviews and wardrobe choice. Here Taylor demonstrates professional passive-aggressiveness.
Sing it, sister!
It’s kind of amazing that anyone will date Taylor Swift now that she’s established a pattern of gaffing her exes in song. She notoriously stuck it to ex-boyfriend John Mayer in the not-so-subtly titled “Dear John.” Swift also took a dig at Jake Gyllenhaal in her “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together” lyrics and video. In the video we see Swift mocking Jake’s love of indie bands, and describes breaking up with him as “exhausting.” Now that Taylor has broken up with Harry Styles, will there be another “somebody done somebody wrong” song? So far all TSwift has done is use a British accent during her performance at the Grammys. Whether or not she was mocking Harry is uncertain.
Swift uses style…
…to stick it to Styles! Harry Styles that is, now ex-boyfriend. Those of us who follow such things couldn’t help but notice that Taylor vamped it up in a down-to-there dress, with smoldering eye makeup immediately upon breaking up with the One Direction crooner. Every girl knows exactly what Taylor’s intent was behind that little stunt. It’s a very passive-aggressive (and effective!) way to say, “Look what you’re missing out on. Next!”
Tell it to the judge, honey!
Or in this case, tell it to Vanity Fair magazine. While the population at large loved Amy Poehler and Tiny Fey as hosts of the Golden Globes, Ms. Swift wasn’t a fan. It would appear she’s sick of the public taking pot-shots at her love life, and that includes the funny ladies of the Golden Globes. In response to the hosts’ jabs about Taylor chasing after Michael J. Fox’s son, Taylor found their remarks to be “a little sexist.” She took it a step further and repeated her favorite Katie Couric quote: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” So are Poehler and Fey upset? Not in the least. “Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist and she is a young and talented girl,” Poehler said. “That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.” Ba-dum ching (rimshot, in case you didn’t get it).
