We’ve always loved Katie Holmes. Her new interview with Allure only makes our love grow.
Life has been rough for Katie lately. Her marriage fell apart, her daughter rarely smiles, and her play closed early due to lack of ticket sales. Our girl is a survivor, though, and she’s pulled through with that always demure smile.
Now, she’s on the cover of Allure, trading her smile for a cold stare and a bunch of water. Like our mamas always said, though: It’s what’s on the inside that counts.
So, what did they talk about? A little bit of everything.
Katie Holmes’ style evolution >>
Despite the fact that Katie still looks nearly as young and vibrant as she did back in her Dawson’s Creek days, the magazine got her talking about aging.
“Why do we have to keep fighting? We’re not going to look like we’re 25 when we’re not.” She went on to say, “I’m hoping to find other things that make me feel good about myself.”
Like maybe going to law school? Katie still says that isn’t out of the question. “Well, my brother and father are attorneys, and — we’ll see. I like the practical thinking of attorneys.”
Another life choice she won’t rule out is more kids. She told Allure she’s “open to it.” Assuming the right Mr. Holmes comes along, of course.
Signs Katie and Tom were headed for splitsville >>
As for the future… even just in terms of the rest of 2013, Katie remains hopeful, albeit vague. She told Allure, “I hope this is a peaceful year for a lot of people in the world. When you look back on the last year, there were a lot of tragedies — Hurricane Sandy, the Connecticut shooting. I … I just hope it’s a good year for everyone.” When the magazine pressed her for something more personal, all Katie would give was, “A lot of people have gone through a lot of stuff.”
Does anyone else find that a little tough to read? We do. We hope Katie gets the peaceful 2013 she deserves. Maybe by 2014 she’ll be ready to tell us some kind of good news.
