What a journey this season of Biggest Loser has been. I can’t believe all that I’ve accomplished: I started at 245 pounds and after last night’s finale I’m 132 pounds. I felt like a rock star on the stage… did you see those heels they had me in? Wow.
I attended the finale never believing I would leave with the at-home prize! $100,000 dollars gives me a lot to be thankful for, but you know what else? We didn’t reveal this on the show, but I’m actually cured of my diabetes! That is the best thing I could have gotten from this experience overall. As for what I’m going to do with the money, there are a lot of people who have been helping me along this journey, so I’m going to start with them.
There are so many memories to look back on: One of the funniest moments happened between Bob Harper and I toward the beginning of the season; in fact, you saw the clip last night. I was complaining about it being hot and Bob replied, “What do you think this is, the Biggest Loser Resort and Spa?” It may have been a sassy exchange, but it definitely set the tone for our relationship.
My hardest moment was definitely week 8, and it was even harder to watch. I didn’t realize that my issues and attitude were affecting the other contestants’ journeys. Everything I was doing was bleeding over onto them when I thought it was just about me. It was definitely hard to live that moment and hard to see it.
Now, this may surprise everyone: My new favorite exercise is the Jacob’s Ladder. I used to watch old episodes and cringe as Jillian Michaels would put people on there for what seemed like hours! I went into the gym and faced it, and now I can’t get enough.
My journey is far from over. I have so much to look forward to with my new body. I love the movement and energy that I have now — before, I could barely tie my shoes. Let me just tell you, mobility is fabulous!
I do feel like I was extremely open during the show, with the good and the bad. So many people have been reaching out about their own journeys, and I hope that I can continue to inspire and help others.
Thanks for letting me share my journey with you.
