The New Edition singer has gotten off easy again. For his third DUI he was released from jail after only nine hours. But why did they feel that was a fair sentence?
Who said celebrities get off easy? Bobby Brown was sentenced to 55 days in prison last month for a DUI, but he was released after spending a small piece of that sentence behind bars, and it ended up being less than nine hours.
The singer, who has had problems with the law for years, was arrested for his third DUI in October 2012. The DUI was his second in 2012. He pleaded no contest and was given just under two months in prison, which he began at 10 a.m. on March 20. But by 6:58 p.m. the same day, the star was back out on the streets.

According to Us Weekly, Brown’s attitude (or even his stardom) had nothing to do with the release, but instead “chronic overcrowding necessitated the release.”
However, jail time wasn’t the only part of Brown’s sentence, and he does have to complete the rest of it.
“Brown was also sentenced to four years probation, and was ordered to serve an 18-month alcohol program on the charges, all stemming from his October 2012 arrest for driving under the influence and with a suspended license,” said Us Weekly. “He was arrested in spring 2012 on similar charges — and was convicted in 1996 for DUI.”
Brown has been on a downward spiral since the death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston, who passed away in February 2012. But it appeared The New Edition singer was turning things around when he married girlfriend Alicia Etheridge in Hawaii in June 2012.

Back in March 2012, Brown was also pulled over for suspicion of being under the influence, and failed a field sobriety test. However, he managed to avoid jail time that time by agreeing to a rehab program and probation for 36 months. But the sentence didn’t seem to teach him his lesson that time, and there is a chance nine hours in jail won’t do the job this time.
