The Duggars aren’t done adding to their family yet: Their recent trip to Asia has them thinking about adoption!
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar went through incredible pain when they lost their 20th child, Jubilee, to miscarriage in 2011. However, that sad experience didn’t change their opinion on more children — in fact, they’re thinking about adding another to the Duggar brood.
But, it’ll be through adoption this time.
“We are open to the idea of adoption,” Michelle told People. “We are praying about it, and we will see what God has in store. Love for children has been placed on our hearts.”
The family was inspired after visiting an orphanage during their recent trip to Asia, documented for the TLC special 19 Kids and Counting: The Duggars Do Asia.
“The kids are definitely pushing towards wanting us to open our home up to another child or more,” she added. “They see how much we have been blessed with and how little so many children have and they want to share. We tell our children that would have to be something that is God’s will for our family, and we will see if it is. Our children love children, and we all do.”
The family does have another bun in the oven though: Eldest son Josh and wife Anne are expecting their third child later this year.
So, will they go through with it? Michelle is putting all of her faith in God to give her the answer.
“We are open to whatever is in store,” she added. “It doesn’t really matter whether I would have another child or we would adopt, but we want to approach it with an open heart.”
Hopefully they’ll go for it!
