CBS renews 18 shows, big names still in limbo

CBS has almost renewed its entire lineup. They’ve picked up another season of NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Elementary and more. Unfortunately, there are a few notable shows missing from the list.

Wednesday afternoon, CBS made a big announcement. They added 14 shows to their list of renewals, bringing their total of renewed shows to 18. The number one network revealed that it’s keeping most of its roster the same. Why mess with a winning formula?

According to EW, the full pickup list is as follows: The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Person of Interest, The Good Wife, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, How I Met Your Mother (for its final season), NCIS, CSI, NCIS: LA, Hawaii Five-0, The Mentalist, Blue Bloods, The Amazing Race, Survivor, Undercover Boss, 60 Minutes and 48 Hours.

Now, what’s missing from this bunch? First off, veteran comedy Two and a Half Men is nowhere to be found. They’re in negotiations with Warner Bros. to decide whether or not it will be back for an eleventh season. But don’t worry, all signs point to its return complete with Ashton Kutcher.

Criminal Minds is in a similar situation. Behind the scenes, the network’s trying to solidify new deals with the cast. Once they’re in order, we believe the show will be too. But CSI: NY is still on the fence as well as the comedy Rules of Engagement.

On the newbie front, the period drama Vegas and Golden Boy are both in limbo. It was previously announced that Vegas had been pushed to Friday nights. It’s not the most coveted spot on the schedule, but it’s better than nothing. Perhaps, it could use that time to really prove itself?
