It looks like studio execs are thinking Fast.
Thanks to the killer trailer that debuted at the Super Bowl (a car drives through an exploding plane!), we’re pretty pumped for the May 24 release of Fast & Furious 6.
Now a rumor has emerged that a seventh film may be on the fast track.
In a recent post on his Facebook page, Vin Diesel hinted that production on Fast & Furious 7 could begin as early as this summer.
“There was an early screening in LA this week of Fast 6. The crowd reaction was surreal… and their demand for the continuation was powerful.
It’s remarkable to think I first embodied this character in 1999… and the evolution continues.
P.s. Filming begins this summer in LA, where it all started… talk about a studio in sync with the audience…”
If production is in fact set to begin so soon, that would put the film in theaters as early as next year.

Anotherfilm would make Fast & Furious one of the longest-running film series of all time. The franchise would be tied with Police Academy for the film with the most follow-ups. It would be surpassed only by Halloween, which has had eight installments (not counting reboots).
It wouldn’t come as a great surprise if Universal went ahead with another Fast & Furious film.
