Predictions for the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards

The ACM Awards are sure to present a memorable evening, but what are the things that could happen that will leave us talking about the show Monday morning (or for years to come)?

With so many awards shows throughout the year, sometime it’s hard to keep them straight. But the Academy of Country Music Awards may just have a few tricks up their sleeves which will make Sunday, April 7, a memorable night. Here are our predictions for the ACM Awards.

Two of the biggest awards may be the most surprising. Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year will be decided by fan voting. This means anything can happen. While ACM members did choose the nominees, the final decision will be completely in the hands of the fans.

There will be plenty of Mr. and Mrs. Blake Shelton.Blake Shelton will be co-hosting the show, along with Luke Bryan. Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert is also up for three awards. The couple tend to steal the spotlight anywhere they go, and there is a good chance the ACM Awards will be no different.

Taylor Swift won’t win anything.Taylor Swift has officially made her transition to the world of pop. While the ACM Awards still consider her a country artist (she is up for four awards), the voters may disagree. If Swift does win anything, it would likely be Entertainer of the Year. But if other awards shows this season were any indication, Carrie Underwood now seems to win any award that both she and Taylor Swift are nominated for (at least this year), and Underwood is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year.

The performances will steal the show. A large percentage of the nominees are performing at the 2013 ACM Awards, and the show sure will be diverse. Old school country stars like Tim McGraw and George Strait will be performing, along with more modern country stars. These include Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan. To shake things up a little, a few pop stars will be making their appearances, including Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson.

The hosting team will bring an entertaining evening that will be full of the best in country music. Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan are at the top of the industry and both have mastered the art of a stage persona. What may be especially entertaining is the two singers are both up for an award in the biggest category of the night, Entertainer of the Year. The competition may create a sort of cat fight between the two, and it could change the personality of the show, which could create either tension or hilarity.
