Boston Marathon explosions: Joey McIntyre’s close call

Explosions at the Boston Marathon have rocked the nation, including singer Joey McIntyre. As news of the tragedy spreads, we learn the New Kids On the Block member passed by the area where many were hurt just minutes before the incident.

Joey McIntyre narrowly missed the Boston Marathon explosions. The singer, seen here in a smiling pre-race photo taken just hours before tragedy struck the world-famous event, is now reassuring family, friends and fans he is safe and sound via Twitter.

One hour ago, Joey McIntyre tweeted, “There was an explosion by the finish line about 5 minutes after I finished- I’m ok but I’m sure there are many hurt.”

The seriousness of the tweet is evident when compared to the smiling photo taken earlier Monday morning, in which the 40-year-old New Kids On the Block bandmate wrote with excitement, “T minus 5 minutes!!!!”

The singer, who was running in honor of two charities, is the father of three with wife Barrett Williams: Rhys, Griffin and Kira.
