Lily Collins to star in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

If Warm Bodies taught us anything, it’s that the concept of love in the time zombies can work.

If you’ve ever read the heartwarming Pride and Prejudice and thought, “This book could use more zombies,” you’re in luck!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is moving full speed ahead with Lily Collins slated to star.

Based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith, the story offers a gory take on one of the most beloved works of literature ever released.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has been in the works for years put previously failed to make it into production. Now it’s being reported that Burr Steers (Charlie St. Cloud) may direct the film.

The 1813 Jane Austen novel has been adapted for the screen countless times. One of the most famous versions of the classic story, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, premiered in 1995. In 2005, a well-received version of the novel featuring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen was released.

There have also been a variety of unique spins on the romance. For instance, Bride & Prejudice, with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,offered a Bollywood version of the story.

Pride and Prejudice has also been cited as one of the influences for Bridget Jones’s Diary. Additionally, Darcy Town, a contemporary adaptation, is currently being produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt for the Lifetime network.

If that’s not enough, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer recently produced Austenland, which centers on a woman’s (Keri Russell) obsession with the brooding Mr. Darcy, and takes her to an Austen fantasy camp in England.

Collins is one of Hollywood’s hottest rising stars. The actress will soon be seen in the quirky indie comedy The English Teacher and the highly anticipated big-screen version of The Mortal Instruments.
