2013 BET Awards nominations: Drake’s the man to beat

The 2013 BET Awards have unveiled the nominees. Hip hop artists like Drake and Jay-Z scored nods, while Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx represent for the actors.

Rapper, singer and actor Aubrey “Drake” Graham has a lot to smile about. He’s at the top of the list for this year’s BET Awards.

Tuesday, the network announced the 2013 nominees, which cover both music and movies. Drake leads the way with 12 nods mostly thanks to his 2011 album, Take Care.

According to MTV News, both 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar are up for eight awards, A$AP Rocky and Jay-Z are nominated for five and Justin Timberlake and Miguel have four nominations each.

In terms of performers, Drake’s professional (and personal) nemesis Chris Brown will take the stage as well as R&B vet R. Kelly. The ceremony will be hosted by actor and comedian Chris Tucker.

The BET Awards were previously hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, Kevin Hart and Jamie Foxx.
