Zoe Saldana surprised everyone when she told Allure magazine in its upcoming issue that her days of dating dudes may be numbered, but she isn’t the only celebrity who caught everyone off-guard with androgynous admissions.
Zoe Saldana
After ending her long-term engagement to entrepreneur Keith Britton, Zoe Saldana enjoyed a high-profile fling with her The Words co-star Bradley Cooper. But in the issue of Allure magazine hitting stands on May 21, Zoe revealed it may not be a man she ultimately settles down with. “[I might] end up with a woman raising my children,” she said. “That’s how androgynous I am.”
Gillian Anderson
Last year, former X Files star Gillian Anderson — who has been married to men twice and only recently ended a long-term relationship with Mark Griffiths — divulged to Out magazine that women turn her on just as much as men do. She said that in addition to several same-sex flings, she was in a lesbian relationship for “a long time” during her high school years.
Anna Paquin
In 2010 — the same year she married her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer — Anna Paquin declared her bisexuality for the True Colors Fund, which fights for the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender. In a clip promoting the fund, the actress proudly states, “I’m Anna Paquin. I’m bisexual, and I give a damn.”
Lindsay Lohan
Over the years, the public has come to expect the unexpected from Lindsay Lohan. Even so, she threw everyone for a loop when she started dating DJ Samantha Ronson in 2008. When asked by Harper’s Bazaar magazine whether she was bisexual, she responded, “Maybe. Yeah.” She later clarified, “I don’t want to classify myself.”
Billie Joe Armstrong
When it comes to sexual orientation, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong doesn’t just cop to fantasizing about the same sex from time to time — he thinks everyone does. “I think I’ve always been bisexual,” he told The Advocate, musing, “I think people are born bisexual, and it’s just that our parents and society kind of veer us off into this feeling of Oh, I can’t. They say it’s taboo. It’s ingrained in our heads that it’s bad, when it’s not bad at all. It’s a very beautiful thing.”
Drew Barrymore
Everyone’s favorite flower child has found happiness with hubby Will Kopelman — with whom she shares sweet baby Olive — but she never ruled out lasting love with a same sex partner before settling down. “Do I like women sexually? Yeah, I do,” she exclaimed, adding, “I think a woman and a woman together are beautiful, just as a man and a woman together are beautiful.”
Angelina Jolie
No one was more surprised than Angelina Jolie herself when she first began having feelings for women, most notably a relationship with her Foxfire co-star Jenny Shimizu. In an interview with Barbara Walters, she admitted she was “surprised when I suddenly found myself having these feelings I always had for men, but for a woman, and wanting to kiss her and wanting to touch her.”
Megan Fox
Like her character in Jennifer’s Body, Megan Fox has no qualms about exploring her feelings for the same sex. She set the record straight on the matter in an interview with Esquire, iterating, “I have no question in my mind about being bisexual.” Her biggest girl crush? Angelina Jolie, natch!
