While the rest of the world loves to hate them, Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian have found an ally in one unlikely Hollywood player.
It’s been a rough go of things for Lindsay Lohan, whose career and life once held such promise. Currently in the midst of her sixth stint in rehab under court order, the troubled starlet will be lucky to ever work in Hollywood again — but it turns out she has one big-name supporter in her corner.
At the Sydney premiere of The Great Gatsby, director Baz Luhrmann said he is rooting for Lohan to regain her former promise as a “talented actress.”
“I have known Lindsay since she was very young,” Luhrmann told Australian TV personality Lawrence Mooney, who hosts talk show Dirty Laundry Live on ABC2.
“She’s a talented girl. I pray that she can bring herself back to the place where she came from because she is a talented actress. I feel for her, I really do.”
For her part, Lohan wants to return to work focused and fresh when she emerges from The Betty Ford Clinic after her 90-day stint, a trip she called “pointless.”
“I’ve been court-ordered to do it six times,” she told the Daily Mail. “I could write the book on rehab. Constantly sending me to rehab is pointless. The first few times I was court-ordered to rehab, it was like a joke, like killing time.”

“I can come back afterwards and be fully focused on work. But I think there are other things I could do instead of going to a rehab center that would benefit me more.”
Luhrmann also had some kind words for another star the public loves to hate: Kim Kardashian. While the reality princess has been maligned for her fashion choices in maternity wear, Luhrmann said she is absolutely lovely.
“I met her the other night, about two weeks ago,” Luhrmann said. “I had dinner with her and Kanye at a friend’s place. She’s an extraordinarily elegant woman, pregnant. I was really struck by her grace.”
