Courteney Cox & David Arquette divorce finalized

It took a few years, but Courteney Cox and David Arquette are finally divorced. It might be one of Hollywood’s friendliest splits ever.

It’s taken two and a half years , but Courteney Cox and David Arquette have taken their time and finalized their divorce. On Tuesday, in a Los Angeles Superior courtroom, the papers were signed signifying the end of their union.

The court papers declared, “Irreconcilable differences have caused the irremediable breaking of the marriage. The marital status of the parties is terminated.”

The couple married in 1999 after a long friendship that began on the set of the horror-spoof film Scream. The couple had one child together, Coco, now 8, during their marriage.

The duo did their best to keep the separation as friendly as possible for the sake of their daughter.

In January, Cox told Ellen DeGeneres, “He’s my best friend in the world. I love him.”

Arquette declared his love right back for the Cougar Town star by telling People, “She’s incredible… I love her, too, and she’s an amazing person, a beautiful person.”

Even with all of that love between them, they couldn’t make it as husband and wife. They filed divorce papers on the same day back in June 2012 and sought joint legal and physical custody of Coco.

Both parties have also moved on to other partners. Arquette has been dating The Insider correspondent Christina McLarty on and off over the last two years. Cox has been more private about her dating life, but rumors have persisted about her relationship with her TBS co-star Josh Hopkins.

Either way, the former couple will continue to remain friends for the sake of their daughter in addition to co-producing Cox’s cable show.

Perhaps other celebrities in Hollywood should take a page from their amicable divorce playbook.
