Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson are separated after 10 years of marriage, the singer has confirmed to People in a cryptic statement which may allude to their marriage issues.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said in a statement to People on Jan. 13. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
The low-key couple met in 2010 and fell in love, fast. “We connected on all levels,” Simpson wrote in her memoir, Open Book, in 2020. “We both were ready for the real deal.”
Over 14 years later, Simpson and Johnson, who tied the knot on on July 5, 2012, share three kids: Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, born in 2012, Ace Knute, born in 2013, and Birdie Mae, born in 2019. As fans continued to speculate over Simpson’s post, People reported that they were, essentially, separated after Johnson was spotted without his wedding ring.
“She’s working on music and splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Eric spends all of his time in L.A., where the kids go to school,” a source told the outlet. “Jess and Eric very much live separate lives.”
