A Full Timeline of Tarek & Heather Rae El Moussa’s Relationship

July 2019: Tarek & Heather Meet & Start Dating

During the July 4th holidays in 2019, Tarek and Heather met for the first time while aboard Tarek’s boat. According to Heather, Tarek had slipped into her DMs earlier, but she had turned him down because of her previous relationship. This time, however, she agreed to a first date. 

“I was actually like really scared of him in a way, like, I was scared to be vulnerable and go on a first date,” Young said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in 2019.

“I just figured it wasn’t going to go anywhere, to be honest,” she continued. “I was just really not in a super good place at that moment.”

August 8, 2019: Tarek & Heather Go Instagram Official

A few months after they started dating, Tarek announced their relationship to the world on Instagram. 

“❤️❤️❤️ it’s official!!!!” he wrote in the caption. “After more than 3 years on my own, I’m so PROUD to say that this beautiful, sweet and talented young lady is my girlfriend!”

“I’ll be honest and say I never thought I would meet someone special in my life after the last three years,” he continued. “Then…out of the blue @heatherraeyoung walked into my life.”

“The first time I saw her smile she ‘did that thing to my tummy’ and I knew right away I needed to get to know her… so I asked her out!! She said yes😎,” he remembered. Looks like it was love at first sight

January 2020: Tarek & Heather Move In Together

Six months into their relationship, Tarek and Heather moved in together in January 2020. 

“It’s really fun because we live in two different places!” he wrote to his followers on Instagram. “Our main spot is in Orange County but one or two nights a week we stay at our place in West Hollywood!”

“The best part is I now have someone to go to bed with and wake up to every day❤️❤️❤️,” he wrote. “The better better part is that person is @heatherraeyoung!
I’m one lucky dude!!!”

July 25, 2020: Tarek Proposes to Heather

On July 25, 2020, Tarek proposed during their one-year anniversary celebration to Catalina Island. 

“On July 3rd, I was a broken, lost, sad man. July 4th, you stepped onto my boat, I saw you, my heart stopped and I fell in love with you right away,” he said in his speech (watch it all here). “You’re my best friend in the world. So, Heather Rae Young, will you marry me?”

Luckily, she said yes!

October 23, 2021: Tarek & Heather Get Married

Over a year after their engagement, Tarek and Heather tied the knot in a luxurious wedding in Santa Barbara. 

“We’re best friends, we’re true soulmates, and our love is so rare and so special,” Heather told People at the time. “It’s the love I’ve always dreamed of my whole life.”

“I’m just excited to live this life with her,” Tarek chimed in. “We’ve got the two babies, we have a family, and we have a very bright future.”

June 22, 2022: Tarek & Heather Become Co-Stars

In addition to being husband and wife, Tarek and Heather also worked together flipping houses. So, it was no surprise in June 2022 when they announced their joint HGTV show, The Flipping El Moussas. 

“We are so excited to bring viewers into our world to see the ins and outs of our day-to-day lives,” the couple said in a joint statement “As busy parents and successful real estate experts, fans can watch us as we go from making breakfast for the kids in the morning, to making business deals by the afternoon. The cameras are capturing our journey like never before and we can’t wait to share it all.”

The first episode premiered on March 2, 2023.

July 13, 2022: Heather Reveals She’s Pregnant

Almost three years after they first met, Tarek and Heather announced they were expecting their first baby together. 

“It was a huge shock,” Heather told People. At the time, they were in the first stages of IVF.

“We just weren’t expecting this. We had just gone through IVF. We had embryos on ice. We had a plan,” she said. “I think when you least expect it and there’s no stress in your life, the world just brought us what was meant to be. I’m so excited that it happened like this.”

10 days later, they announced they were expecting a baby boy. 

January 31, 2023: Tarek & Heather Welcome a Son

On January 31, 2023, Heather gave birth to her first child, son Tristan Jay. 

“Our baby boy is here 🤍 1.31.23,” they wrote on Instagram. 

“Mama & baby are happy, healthy, tired but doing well,” the caption wrote. “Our hearts are so happy ❤️.”

December 12, 2024: Tarek & Heather Announce New Show

In addition to The Flipping El Moussas, Tarek and Heather shocked the world by announcing a new show, The Flip Off, with Tarek’s ex-wife Christina. While the show was initially a couple’s face-off between Heather and Tarek versus Christina and her ex Josh Hall, the story quickly pivoted to the three of them following Christina’s divorce from Hall. 

“Tarek, Heather and I have all been through a lot of stuff together, and we are all highly competitive,” said Christina in the announcement. “Tarek is the self-proclaimed ‘best flipper in the world,’ but, honestly, give me a break. I can’t wait to smoke them at their own game.” 

“When it comes to distressed real estate, I own the space and Christina doesn’t stand a chance,” Tarek responded. “It all comes down to this—who’s going to rise higher from the ashes of everything that we burned to the ground?” 

“I come from high-end real estate, and now I’ve been flipping houses with Tarek for the last few years,” Heather added. “It’s my time to show how hard I’ve worked on my designs, and, more than anything, I want to prove that we can beat Christina.”

The first episode of the series premieres on January 23, 2025.
