The legalization of marijuana is spreading throughout the United States and be it for medical or recreational use, these celebrities are all for it.
Miley Cyrus
It’s no secret Cyrus is in love with Mary Jane. Just take a gander at her Instagram page if you don’t believe us.
Natalie Portman
Portman may not be a practicing smoker now, but that doesn’t mean she never was. “I love stoner comedies. I smoked weed in college, but I haven’t smoked in years,” Portman said to Entertainment Weekly in January. “I’m too old. I wish I was that cool, but I’m like an old lady now. I’m in bed by 10 p.m. I can’t do that anymore.”
Justin Timberlake
Renaissance man Justin Timberlake is living proof cannabis isn’t just for slackers. “The only thing pot does for me is it gets me to stop thinking,” he said in 2011. “Sometimes, I have a brain that needs to be turned off. Some people are just better high.”
Megan Fox
“I can’t tell you how much bullshit I’ve been through because I will openly say that I smoke weed,” the actress said to GQ magazine in 2009. “People look at it like it’s this crazy, hippy, f***ed-up thing to do. And it’s not. I hope they legalize it.”
Martha Stewart
Could it be Stewart gets some of her craftiest ideas after taking a hit or two? “Of course I know how to roll a joint,” Stewart said in an interview with Andy Cohen in 2013, in which she also criticized some sloppy joint rolling she’d witnessed earlier that same day.
Susan Sarandon
It’s no secret Sarandon, who admits she’s been high for almost every awards show she’s attended, loves pot. “I like doing it in the Grand Canyon, or in the woods. You want to be prepared and not have responsibilities. It does remind you of your space in the universe — your place in the universe — and reframe things for you. I think you can have some very profound experiences,” she said to The Daily Beast in 2014.
Cameron Diaz
Diaz admitted to George Lopez in 2011 that she is “green” and even said she bought pot from Snoop Dogg back in high school.
Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt claims he quit cannabis because it was “turning him into a doughnut,” but that doesn’t mean he is anti. He told Bill Maher in a 2009 interview that he was all for the legalization of the plant.
Matt Damon
Damon is a longtime enthusiast. “The first time I smoked was at home with my mother and stepfather,” he said during an interview on the BBC’s Johnny Vaughn Tonight. “They were like, ‘If you are going to do this, we’d rather you did this with us.'”
Oprah Winfrey
In a 2013 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Winfrey claimed she hadn’t smoked pot since 1982. When Cohen joked that they should “hang out” after the show, Winfrey replied, “OK! I hear it’s gotten better.”
John Mayer
The singer admits he is a recreational smoker, but thinks the public has the perception that he dabbles in marijuana more than he actually does. “I am in the, sort of, suburban housewife category of weed smoking,” Mayer said in 2010, via Popsugar.
Johnny Depp
Depp, who has been photographed playing a piano with a blunt hanging from his lips, says he’s not a pro-level smoker, but he has his reasons for getting a little stony. “I’m not a great pothead or anything like that. But weed is much, much less dangerous than alcohol,” he said in an interview with Film Review magazine.
Rihanna
Like her contemporary, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna is not shy about flaunting her marijuana usage on Instagram. In celebration of 4/20 this year, RiRi posted an animated video of someone smoking a blunt on an island oasis with the caption, “#420 x #hawaii x #badgal.”
Seth Rogen
On-screen and off, Rogen is an avid marijuana enthusiast. When The Hollywood Reporter reported Amy Pascal had to wait for her new office as cleaning crews worked to remove “Seth Rogen’s pot stench,” the actor was indignant. “I don’t know what’s more irresponsible: That they would print a story that is completely untrue, or that they would refer to how pot smells as a ‘stench,'” he wrote on Instagram.
