Donald Trump announced today that he’s running for president, but perhaps he should have considered some Twitter damage control first.
Trump hasn’t held back in the past, doling out mean-spirited and downright nasty words for others in the spotlight, and his tweets are leaving a seriously bad taste in my mouth.
President Obama
Obviously, we expected Trump to go after the president with some criticisms, but using words like “psycho” doesn’t exactly scream “classy” when considering a potential presidential candidate.
President Obama Round 2
Bringing in the president’s race when writing this tweet was unnecessary and just proves that Trump is far from color-blind. It doesn’t inspire much when you consider what a beautifully diverse place America is.
Cher
We wouldn’t exactly call Cher’s career dying. She did, after all, kill it in Vegas last year with a round of performances at the Colosseum. And now she’s part of Marc Jacobs’ new campaign, attending this year’s Met Ball and gracing the cover of Love magazine. The fact that Trump shared that tweet in 2012 just further proved he spoke way too soon about the state of her career.
Jay Leno
We doubt Jay Leno is crying at night because Donald Trump never graced him with his presence.
Katy Perry
Dating advice from Trump? We would highly encourage Katy Perry to pass.
Neil Patrick Harris
Everything about this tweet is wrong, but we’ll point out the big ones: Neil Patrick Harris is amazing! And the fact that he kills it on the Broadway stage every chance he gets means hosting the Emmys is the perfect position for him, no question.
Mark Cuban
Hmm, is that jealousy we smell? And what’s with the third person? Please don’t tell me Trump pays someone to spew filth like this for him.
Arianna Huffington
Wow… just wow.
Russell Brand
As if going after Katy Perry wasn’t enough, Trump also had to target her ex-husband, Russell Brand. His response perfectly sums up how we all felt after reading this tweet.
Hillary Clinton
Blaming the woman for her husband’s infidelity? Nothing like some serious misogyny to start your political campaign.
Rosie O’Donnell
We know Trump and O’Donnell had a huge feud where they both threw some serious insults, but is this really a man we want running our country? I can’t imagine how he’d handle foreign diplomacy, mostly because the thought is horrifying.
Bette Midler
It sounds like he’s suggesting that, because he doesn’t hear someone’s name in the media, their opinions and voice should not be gratified. News flash: The president is supposed to be the voice of the people and not just the people who appear in the tabloids. The rest of us are relevant, too.
