The lead-up to the Princess Diana statue unveiling has been building for months, especially with the royal family rift also having a life of its own. The July 1 event didn’t disappoint — it was emotional and it gave us hope for the future. Prince William and Prince Harry worked on every painstaking detail since they commissioned the statue back in 2017.
Even though their relationship and royal roles have drastically changed during the subsequent years, they managed to put their differences aside and release a statement that reflected their unity as sons of Diana. “Today, on what would have been our Mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better,” the statement said, per People.
The press release continued, “Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.” In these photos, you will see the legacy of Princess Diana continuing on, not just in a statue, but in the work of her sons. Perhaps the emotions tied to this day will give the feuding family a path to move forward, to find common ground and to realize that their differences in life are exactly what their late mother would want them to embrace.

Deep In Thought
Prince William and Prince Harry speak with Rupert Gavin, Chairman of Historic Royal Palaces, and Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the former Private Secretary to both of the royals. Lowther-Pinkerton also sat on the statue committee and assisted with the planning.
Greeting Their Aunts

A Good Day
But let’s be honest, we were all looking at the body language between Harry and William. Nobody looked tense at all during the event — and we hope this is a good sign for the future.
An Emotional Day For The Spencers
This day is just as important to the Spencer family. Diana’s sister and brother, Lady Jane Fellowes and Earl Spencer’s presence made the day extra special.
The Location is Perfect
Pip Morrison’s landscape design is absolutely stunning. The Princess Diana statue lives amongst such natural beauty.
The Moment We’ve All Been Waiting For
The big moment that we’ve all been waiting for. William and Harry put a tremendous amount of work into commissioning this statue.

Teamwork makes the dream work and this really was a labor of love for the royal siblings.
Reflection
There is so much emotion in this one photo. Diana would be so proud of her two sons — and let’s hope this is a new beginning for the brothers.
