Independence day is a holiday with sparks flying…literally. From fireworks to flags, this is a day full of gathering with family and friends…and of course, enjoying a nice cookout under the hot summer sun, some irresistible summer sales. Choosing your wedding day can be both stressful and exciting. Some couples decide to celebrate in the spring, others choose a snow-filled winter wonderland. As we’ve seen with baby names, many celebrities like to take the road less traveled. These stars chose to combine their special day with the celebration-filled Independence Day. A July 4 wedding date is a pretty good way to guarantee your loved ones have no work on your big day, after all! To ring in the Fourth we’ve decided to share a roundup of popular celebrities couples who got married on the festive holiday.
You may be surprised at just how many celebrities have chosen this day to make their love legal. Even Victoria and David Beckham, who aren’t American, got married on the fourth in an extravagant castle near Dublin, Ireland. But what else could we expect from this fashion-forward, luxurious duo?
Another star couple you may not have expected to exchange vows on this day; Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. In 2015, they tied the knot and not much is publicly known about their special day. The pair chose to keep their ceremony super private, which makes sense, seeing as their relationship gained quite a lot of media attention.
These are just a few, of many, who chose to make sparks fly during the firework-filled festivities. We’re curious to see just what celebrities we’ll be adding to our list this year…we have a feeling there will be some shocking surprise ceremonies.
Julia Roberts & Danny Moder
These two not only got married on the Fourth of July in 2002, but they also managed to have a surprise wedding. They invited a bunch of close friends and family to Robert’s New Mexico ranch. How cool is that? The lasting couple have gone on to welcome three children.
Billy Joel & Alexis Roderick
It seems like celebrities really love surprise weddings…In 2020, Billy Joel and Alexis Roderick tied the knot. Similar to Roberts and Moder, they used their Fourth of July party to gather their closest family and friends, surprising them with the ceremony.
Dennis & Kimberly Quaid
Dennis Quaid is quite the ladies’ man. Although he is no longer married to Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, in 2004 these two tied the knot on Independence Day. They went on to have fraternal twins together, however, they filed for divorce in 2016.v
David & Victoria Beckham
This iconic duo got married on the American holiday in 1999 near Dublin, Ireland. Victoria wore two dresses and the pair had matching purple reception outfits. How chic! If this doesn’t prove they’ve been fashionable for over two decades, then we don’t know what does.
Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne
This classic couple has been married the longest on our list, tying the knot in 1982. Their wedding was quite rockin’…especially their outfits. Ozzy matched Sharon in an all-white getup. He also chose to wear a green garland around his neck. Quite an interesting touch if you ask us.
Tina Turner & Erwin Bach
Turner and Bach have quite an interesting love timeline. Unlike most couples, they tied the knot in 2013, after 27 years together. It seems like they really wanted to be certain about their decision to wed. We’re glad to see that these two are still going strong!
Tom Hardy & Charlotte Riley
This acting duo tied the knot in 2014. The ultra-private couple opted to have a very private wedding. Happily married ever since, the duo share two sons in addition to Hardy’s oldest son from a previous relationship.
Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis
These two tied the knot in 2015. Although not much is known about their actual ceremony, the pair did have their honeymoon in their RV, driving it around California. We think the relaxed trip is totally on-brand for them.
Vanessa Williams & Jim Skrip
In 2015, Vanessa Williams tied the knot with Jim Skrip. These two got married not once, but twice. Their first wedding was on Independence Day and Egypt-themed (where they both met). Their second was held over Memorial Day weekend. We kind of love how they stuck with holidays for both.
Teddi Mellencamp & Edwin Arroyave
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star didn’t marry Edwin Arroyave in the 90210, they took their nuptials overseas for a glamorous destination wedding in Paris, France. The couple married on July 4, 2011, and now share three children together.
Sara Ramirez & Ryan Debolt
In 2012, Grey’s Anatomy star, Sara Ramirez, married their fiancé Ryan Debolt. They chose a beachfront Fourth of July setting in New York. We can only imagine how magical it must have looked on that special night. Their marriage, however, was not built to last. In 2021, Ramirez announced they had split after nine years of marriage.
