Brian Austin Green’s dating life has always been on display, almost from the first moment he became a household name with the premiere of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1990. Those late teen and early adult years had him attached to some pretty famous names, which often put them on the cover of every pop-culture magazine of that era.
But if there’s one thing we’ve learned about his patterns when it comes to dating, he likes to be in a relationship. Sure, he’s dated around a bit, but even in his 20s, he settled down with Vanessa Marcil and had his first son with her. And yes, we know he loves to date people he works with — and a lot of the women he’s dated kind of look alike. (Tell us you don’t see a resemblance between Marcil, Megan Fox and Sharna Burgess.)
We can also say he’s not someone who hides how he’s feeling — whether he’s going through a breakup or falling in love, he often shares his deep emotions on his ...With Brian Austin Green podcast. “It sucks when life changes and something that you’re used to, that you’ve been doing for 15 years, you try and not get rid of but you change,” he emotionally revealed to his listeners during the early days of his divorce from Fox. “There’s the unknown aspect… there’s that pit in my stomach.”
The good news is that he found love again, even though it was a rough road to get there. Learn more about Brian Austin Green’s dating history and how his tumultuous romantic life eventually gave way to happiness.
Tori Spelling
Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling have a very different view on their dating situation back in their Beverly Hills, 90210 Donna and David days. According to Green on Watch What Happens Live in 2019, the duo “hooked up.” If you ask Spelling, you’ll get a different story.
“It’s so funny, because to me, I was like, ‘Remember that summer we were together? You said ‘I love you’ and I said ‘I love you.’ And he remembers none of that,” she said on the Women on Top podcast. “He was like, ‘No, we hooked up. We were friends.’ And I was like, ‘Cool, OK.’ Even now I’m like, ‘OK, cool.'”
What we do know is something happened between the two of them off-screen while they were playing romantic partners on-screen. Spelling chalks it up to “the young girl version and the young boy version” of events — which happened over two decades ago.
Tiffani Thiessen
This was a Tiger Beat match made in heaven. Green was the dreamy David Silver on 90210 and Thiessen was America’s sweetheart as Kelly Kapowski on Saved By The Bell. This relationship was completely smooth sailing until she joined her boyfriend’s long-running show in 1994 as bad-girl Valerie Malone — that’s when this duo started to hit the skids.
Thiessen was initially reluctant to take the job on the show, but she realized it was a huge opportunity. “I was getting a job on Beverly Hills 90210, I wasn’t going to say ‘no’ to that,” she told Meredith Vieira in 2015. But her first on-screen kiss was with Luke Perry (Dylan McKay), which didn’t exactly please Green.
Executive producer and showrunner Charles Rosin explained on the Beverly Hills Show Podcast that everyone on the crew knew the couple was doomed after that first makeout scene saying it was “very hard for Brian” to deal with Thiessen kissing Perry. “It was pretty clear given how he was reacting to Tiffani experimenting with her acting, as much as anything with her roles and herself being young, that it was unlikely they could stay together as a couple,” he said. The couple broke up in 1995.
Vanessa Marcil
Guess where Vanessa Marcil met Green? Oh yeah, 90210, which was clearly his personal version a dating app before they existed. The couple began dating in 1999 after she joined the series as Gina Kincaid. They even took the next step in their relationship and got engaged in the summer of 2001 and hoped to wed the following year, according to People.
Instead of a wedding in 2002, they had a baby, son Kassius Lijah Marcil-Green, and went through a break-up the following year. That’s when things went south — and co-parenting was anything but easy.
Vanessa Marcil
Marcil and Green, with then-wife Megan Fox, (we will get to that soon) spent years battling over custody of their son, which included him asking for full custody and child support. “They lost that case & a civil case asking me for 200,000,” Marcil shared on Instagram in 2018. She also revealed the most hurtful outcome of all after their co-parenting issues — he stopped seeing Kassius.
“Then, 5 years ago on their own they decided to completely cut Kass out of their lives and his younger brothers’ lives,” she wrote. “Kass has never met his youngest brother and is not allowed to know where his bio father, stepmother and three younger brothers live. He has only seen his dad in passing or in public places.”
A year later, father and son began to make amends and Kassius even visited his dad on the set of the 90210 reboot. “@kassius_marcil_green had always been so proud of his dad @arent_you_that_guy We all are grateful that they are coming back together,” Marcil updated her followers. “Here is to love and forgiveness for all of us on this planet.”
Megan Fox
Brian Austin Green started dating Megan Fox in 2004 after meeting her on the set of Hope & Faith (he sure loves to romance his co-stars). At the time, she was 18 years old and he was well-past his 90210 teens at 30 years of age. They didn’t let that deter them one bit, though.
Fox described their first meeting to Elle magazine lightning in a bottle and found her future husband to be “sweet and quiet, harmless” and that she “had to convince him” that she “had other things to bring to the table besides being 18.”
By 2006, the duo was living together and got engaged in November of that year. It was a long engagement that didn’t end up with a walk down the aisle. Instead, Fox became a huge star, thanks to Transformers, and had a fling with co-star Shia LaBeouf. She went on to talk about her breakup with Us Weekly, via Glamour, “Marriage isn’t a realistic goal for someone who is 23, that’s all. I just wanna concentrate on becoming a better person before I try to commit to being someone else’s wife.”
Megan Fox
But that’s not the end of the story. By June 2010, they were back together and engaged a second time around. Just days after that news broke, the couple married at the Four Seasons Resort in Hawaii, where an eight-year-old Kassius gave his dad away, per E! News. “Megan is happily married,” her PR rep told the entertainment network.
They went on to have two beautiful boys, sons, Noah Shannon in 2012, and Bodhi Ransom in 2014, before calling it quits in August 2015. It was a “very amicable” split, according to TMZ, who noted that they were still living in the same house together — which is probably how she ended up pregnant with their third son, Journey River, born in 2016.
“Marriage is hard,” Green admitted on the …With Brian Austin Green podcast in 2017. “It’s work. I think for anyone. When you get to the point that we have, you have kids and you’ve been married for awhile… You just take it day by day.”
Megan Fox
But the roller coaster ride Green and Fox took us all on wasn’t over yet. Things seemed to be going so well, especially since the Jennifer’s Body star finally dismissed her 2016 petition for divorce in April 2019. But that moment of bliss turned out to be short-lived.
On May 18, 2020, Green confirmed the news that people had been buzzing about for weeks — the couple was really done, like for good. “Neither one of us did anything to each other. She’s always been honest with me. I’ve always been honest with her,” he said on his podcast. “We’ve had an amazing relationship. I will always love her. And I know she will always love me, and I know as far as a family, what we have built is really cool and really special.”
This next chapter would take a lot of twists and turns with Marcil showing up to support Fox on social media, and then Fox heading straight into the arms of Machine Gun Kelly. No one expected this story to have such a plot twist.
Courtney Stodden
The drama, of course, wasn’t going to end there. Let’s just say things started to get really messy for Green in his post-Fox life. He began hanging out with Courtney Stodden in mid-June, and even though it appears it was just a fling, the Instagram model wasn’t too pleased when the actor took up with Australian model Tina Louise just a few weeks later.
Stodden released a video of the two of them hanging out in a hot tub while he gave a shout out to a woman named Ashley. (See the video on TMZ) That’s when Green had a lot of explaining to do.
“I was just trying to be a nice guy and I shot a video for her friend Ashley, saying hello,” he told TMZ. “It was just disappointing, but I don’t want to bash Courtney. I think she’s a nice person. I just think she’s making some bad choices.”
And that was the end of the Stodden dating situation.
Tina Louise
Tina Louise was likely a hot girl summer fling for Green, who was spotted with her on and off between June and September in 2020. The dates always seemed pretty casual — out at lunch or hanging at the beach. At that point, he didn’t have much time to date because Fox was working on a movie in Puerto Rico and he had to play full-time mom and dad with their three sons.
“What’s unfortunate for me in this situation is I’ll literally go on one date with someone, not even a date, just out to lunch with somebody and it’s written, ‘his new fling, he’s playing two women at the same time,'” he told the Hollywood Raw podcast. “No. I literally spent one time with each of these women. I’m not playing anybody. My life is just much more under a microscope than somebody else’s.”
Sharna Burgess
After his summer of confusing dating, Green struck gold when he met Dancing with the Stars pro Sharna Burgess after being introduced through their business manager. A meet-cute first date at a coffee shop turned into love at first sight.
“On our first date, we just completely lost track of time and the same thing happened the next time,” Green told People. It became something noticeably different from anything I’d ever experienced before.”
Burgess was equally as smitten and believes their quarantine time together bonded them before anything got physical. “We really took our time. We took four or five dates before we even kissed,” she revealed to ET. “It was truly about getting to know the human being, because that’s where we are both at in our lives. I’m not really dating for fun, I’m dating for serious. I want to get to know you on the inside.”
Seven months since they went public with their relationship (to the same hotel in Hawaii, where Green wed Fox), things are going strong. Green posted an Instagram photo of them smooching at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and captioned the post, “It’s been a really long time since I’ve been with someone I can truly share life with.”
If this keeps up, there might be an engagement on the horizon.
