There’s no denying that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen know how to serve up red carpet looks. Through the years at the Met Gala, we’ve not only been able to see how glam they look fashion-wise, but we’ve also been lucky enough to witness their complete love for each other. No one does PDA better than Tom and Gisele (sorry, Bennifer 2.0, you come in a close second).
But the NFL star and the supermodel are a match made in heaven — from their first Met Gala together in 2008 to their latest one in 2019 — they always give us a show. OK, we know they don’t like to risk their A-list looks by leaning into the yearly theme too much, but who cares? They know they look good and that every photographer is going to be clamoring for their photo (and their signature adoring gaze) no matter how conservative their fashion might be.
What we love is that we’ve had the opportunity to see them through different stages of their relationship — from the early days of dating to newlyweds and through parenthood. Even when they skipped a few years in there, we couldn’t wait for their big return. We all missed the 2020 Met Gala (thanks, COVID), but we are here for a 2021 red carpet sighting in September when the glamour returns.
And now that Gisele has hit her 40s, we think she’s more stunning than ever before. “As I’ve gotten older, I have grown more comfortable in my own skin, and I’m grateful for every experience, and every year of my life so far,” she told Allure in 2020. A sign of great things ahead for the supermodel and her handsome, elite athlete husband.
For Tom Brady’s birthday, let’s take a look at their super sweet, gorgeous photos over the years and see if you agree with our pick for the best photo they’ve ever taken at the Met Gala.
A version of this story was originally published in 2021.
‘Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy’ (2008)
Like we said, Tom Brady and Gisele Bünchen don’t really go all the way with the theme, but they know they always look good together. So we’d call their “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” look as a tribute to Peter Parker and Mary Jane, maybe?

Photographers can capture Gisele from any angle and we promise you, she looks stunning every single time. It’s those supermodel genes.
‘The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion’ (2009)
So basically, Gisele went as herself with the “The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” theme, and the NFL star went along for the ride. It’s like having the easiest Halloween costume ever — come as you are.
‘The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion’ (2009)
These two lovebirds are always the most loving to each other on the red carpet. It’s like no one else exists, even though the camera lens is there capturing every moment.
‘American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity’ (2010)
While the “American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity” theme feels a little vague, Tom and Gisele just showed up looking good. She’s sporting some fringe on her dress and the athlete is at the start of his long hair phase.

Look at how smitten the two of them look a little over a year after they married. We stan their love.
‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ (2011)
We love a pop of color and Gisele served major looks with her show-stopping, red gown from Alexander McQueen’s 2005 collection worn in honor of the late fashion designer.
‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ (2011)
We are not going to lie — this isn’t our favorite hairstyle on Tom, but it doesn’t matter because Gisele is the focal point in this to-die-for couture dress.
‘Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations’ (2012)
You can’t go wrong with the classic looks of a crisp tux and a black Givenchy gown. Even in a candid moment, these two look fierce.

And what many didn’t know when this photo was taken, Gisele was two-months pregnant with the couple’s second child, Vivian. It’s a very sweet memory from the 2012 Met Gala.
‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ (2013)
Gisele and Tom didn’t get too edgy for the ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ theme in 2013, but we love his twist on a tux — that cobalt blue jacket is divine.
‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ (2013)
Gisele’s version of punk is the dash of hardware on her Anthony Vaccarello dress, which adds a flash of skin. We would have loved an unexpected punk hairstyle on her, but hey, she’s a supermodel, she gets to do whatever she wants.
‘Charles James: Beyond Fashion’ (2014)
This looks is sexy and romantic all at once. The Balenciaga lace dress is perfection on Gisele and so is that adoring look from Tom.
‘Charles James: Beyond Fashion’ (2014)
We love these moments when they are unaware of the cameras because they still look red-carpet ready. (Our photos never look like this.)
‘Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between’ (2017)
This might be our favorite shot, like ever, of Tom and Gisele. It doesn’t get any more glamorous than this — every photographer is clamoring for your photo, but it’s only about the two of you.
“Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” (2017)
The expectations were exceptionally high for the couple this particular year because they chaired the gala. Gisele’s form-fitting, pewter Stella McCartney dress was a winner paired with Tom’s velvet tuxedo — swoon!
‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ (2018)
This might the be closest Tom and Gisele ever got to leaning into the theme. In 2018, it was all about “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” so this could be the football player’s spin on priest fashion with the high turtleneck and blazer.
‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ (2018)
This is also a riskier red carpet look from Gisele as well. But we love it when she glitters in a gold Versace gown with chunky earrings. (What a fresh photo, too!)
‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ (2019)
This was the last year the Met Gala was held before COVID times, but don’t worry, it will be back this year. These two are pretty in pink — or blush, or maybe bashful — but they look like king and queen of the prom.
‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ (2019)
OK, you two, you are the sweetest and we can’t wait to see what looks you serve up in 2021. We miss your PDA on the red carpet.
