Thanks to stars like Sofía Vergara, Niecy Nash and Paulina Porizkova posting their mesmerizing bikini photos, we’re slowly phasing out one outdated term: “age-appropriate clothing.”
Loosely translated, the term has typically meant that, after a certain age, people — women in particular — ought to be covering up more than they used to, and we simply couldn’t disagree more.
Celebrities from Salma Hayek to Jennifer Lopez, and so many more have been coming out in full force with glamour shots, sultry bikini photos, and sporty footage of their scantily-clad workouts to dispel the idea that women over a certain age have anything to hide, and these women certainly don’t.
Porizkova has been making headlines for her self-love in recent years, between her full-frontal nude Vogue Czechoslovakia cover at age 56 and her 2021 Instagram tirade against the gospel of “anti-aging” products. “Combat age. Reverse aging. Rejuvenate. Anti age. None of this is possible. Yet, if you do an internet search on aging, this is what you’ll get. Pills, potions and workouts to fight the aging process,” Porizkova wrote.
“You know what the only way to stop aging? Dying,” she continued. “I do not want to fight myself everyday for the rest of my life. But I do want to make the best of what I was given. And I want to shine a bright light in the dark corners of the shame that is heaped on women for daring to age.”
We couldn’t stand more behind Porizkova’s vision! These days, many of the most enviable celebrity bodies out there belong to women over 50, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
