The Primetime Emmys always brings out the best in fashion when it comes to the red carpet, but this year should be even bigger than 2020. Last year’s show was a hybrid of people home in their pajamas zooming in from locations all over the world with just a few celebrities in person. Yes, there is still a pandemic raging on, but the celebrities are tested, vaxxed and ready to take fashion to the next level.
We are love pop of color (we see you, Yara Shahidi and Mandy Moore) and we love the drama Billy Porter always delivers — those are some of the red carpet veterans who know how to work a look. And for once, Los Angeles isn’t experiencing a heatwave, so the stars are looking cool and breezy — that’s the best welcome return to the red carpet. We will miss red carpet classics like Jennifer Aniston, who decided to skip this year’s ceremony despite her Friends reunion nomination as a producer. (We don’t blame her for being a bit nervous about big crowds right now.)
So take a look at some of our red carpet favorites on Emmys night — see if you agree with our choices and see which star decided to go all-out make a major statement after a year of yoga pants and hair in a scrunchie. Welcome back to the Emmys, everyone!
