When Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West in February 2021 and ended Kimye as we knew it, we knew some big changes were ahead. By March, it was reported that Kim would be holding on to their family home in Hidden Hills, where their four kids North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm West have grown up. It’s far from the former couples’ only property — they have a handful of ranches in Wyoming where West appeared to spend much of 2020, for example — but still, we figured that West would be picking up a property of his own soon in California now that he won’t be crashing in Hidden Hills with Kim anymore, and that day has finally come. Kanye West bought a house that is so Kanye West, you’ve simply got to see it to believe it.
Here are the specs, so you know what you’re in for: West paid $57.3 million for a 4-bedroom, 4.5 bathroom Malibu house that’s so on the beach, I’m pretty sure you can feel ocean spray from the patio. Designed by famous architect Tadao, it’s not just a home (boring!), it’s a part-sculpture part-home that functions as a piece of art as well as a residence. It was also constructed from 1,200 tons of poured concrete. Ready to see photos yet?
No one knows what the future holds for Kimye — even West seems uncertain at times — but we do know that this place is exactly up the rapper’s alley. The cherry on top? It’s only 30 minutes from his and Kim’s old place in Hidden Hills. Read on for square footage and amenities, and see even more photos on Dirt.
House Front
Nothing to see here, folks! From the front, this Tadao Ando-designed Malibu home could seem like just another super-fancy Malibu beach house with a built-in garage — from the back, it’s a different story.
Beachfront
Starting to see where the 1,200 tons of poured concrete comes in? It also required 200 tons of steel reinforcement to hold it all together. The property comes out to 3,665 square feet of interior space on a 5,672 square-foot lot, with neighbors close by on both sides.
Terrace
The upper-level terrace pictured here comes out from a main bedroom suite that takes up the entire top floor.
Fire Pit
The lower levels of the home hold the other three bedrooms, all ensuite, plus the living room, powder room, kitchen, and other public areas.
Outdoor Area
You have to admit, it’s a pretty peaceful view — concrete aside. We hope that Kanye West is very happy here!
