Frequently, A-list football players end up marrying some of the most beautiful, talented, and charismatic women in the entertainment industry — funny how that happens. And while some of these couples, like Jessie James and Eric Decker, have opened up to the public about how they balance football season and their personal lives, others — like Kerry Washington and her NFL husband Nnamdi Asomugha — totally hide their private lives away, keeping our view of them strictly to Washington’s acting and Asomugha’s footballing. From the ultra-private to the media-savvy, we love learning about the families of the players who keep us entertained all through football season.
The thing about football families that we have to consider is that these NFL players have rigid, high-intensity months of sport, often leaving their families to travel for long stretches. But while that may seem sad, they also have a very healthy off-season where their days are all about family time.
And many NFL fathers are amazing dads too. In 2021, Ciara opened up to the NY Post about her NFL player husband, Russell Wilson, saying his sexiest quality is how wonderful of a father he is to their children.
“What’s always been beautiful about Russ is just to see him from day one, excitingly jumping in and changing diapers,” she told the outlet. “He’s obviously really beautiful to me in every way, but the father in him is by far one thing that makes him the sexiest to me.”
From college sweethearts to ever-growing families, check out some of our favorite football families!

The Kelces

Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce has one of the sweetest families in football. Married to wife Kylie, the two already have two daughters, Wyatt, 3 and Elliotte Ray, almost 2, and have another one on the way. In fact, Kelce recently shared that his wife will be taking an OB to the Super Bowl this Sunday just in case something happens. Good luck to this growing family!
The Bradshaw Bunch
Four-time Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw’s family is so compelling there was even a reality show, The Bradshaw Bunch, about them! The show, which only aired two seasons until 2021, centered around Terry, his wife Tammy and their three daughters Rachel, 35, Erin, 33, and Lacey, 37. Though the show had to come to a halt due to Terry’s health concerns, we’ll continue to keep up with them!
The Mahomes-Matthews
High school sweethearts Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews graduated their Texas high school together in 2013 and have been together ever since, with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Mahomes proposing to Matthews at the 2020 Chiefs’ Super Bowl Ring ceremony. The couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Sterling Skye, in February 2021, and they just welcomed their second child, baby boy Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, on Nov 28. Congrats to the happy family! We can’t wait to continue keeping up with this super-sweet family on social media.
The Brady-Bündchens
Though we’re sad Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady are no longer together, we’ve sure loved keeping track of their blended family through the years.
The former couple first got together in 2006 and got married less than three years later. They have two children together: Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9. Bündchen is also the stepmom to Brady’s first son Jack, 15, whose mother is actress Bridget Moynahan. We’re always wishing this family the best, especially during this tough time.
The Atkins Family
It’s been a minute since Geno Atkins played for the Cincinnati Bengals, but when he was on the field, the football player had a lot of support. Atkins married his college sweetheart, Kristen Merritt, in June 2016. The couple welcomed their first child, son Gene Atkins III, in January 2019. And in November 2020, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Isla Elise Atkins. Atkins’ Instagram account is practically devoted to his family, and we just love to see it.
The Wilsons
Legendary singer Ciara and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson started dating in early 2005 and got married a year later in a star-studded ceremony in an actual castle. They are growing their family and have two children together: Sienna Princess, 5, and Win Harrison, 2. Ciara also has a child from a different relationship, a boy named Future Sahir, 8.
The Asomugha-Washingtons
Kerry Washington and NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha married in a private ceremony in 2013. They now have three children together, named Isabelle Amarachi, Caleb Kelechi, and a third child whose name has been kept secret. They are incredibly hush-hush about their private life, and we love them for that.
The Hasselbecks
Elisabeth and former American football quarterback Tim Hasselbeck are college sweethearts and soon married afterward in 2002. They have three children together: named Grace Elisabeth, 17, Taylor Thomas, 15, and Isaiah Timothy, 13.
The Romo-Crawfords
Tony Romo, former NFL quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, and Candice Crawford, 2008 Miss Missouri and former journalist, got married nearly two years after dating. They now have three wonderful sons together named Hawkins, 10, Rivers, 8, and Jones McCoy, 5.
The Zolciak-Biermanns
Football Defensive End for the Atlanta Falcons, Kroy Biermann, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta starlet Kim Zolciak met at a charity event in 2010. They wed in their home a year later. Zolciak has two daughters from previous relationships, Brielle Karenna, 25, and Ariana Lenee, 21. Biermann and Zolciak have four children together named Kroy Jagger, 11, Kash Kade, 10, and twins Kaia Rose and Kane Ren, 9.
The Simpson-Johnsons
Former NFL tight end player Eric Johnson and Jessica Simpson met in 2010 through a mutual friend and tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in 2014. They have three children together: Maxwell Drew, 10, Ace Knute, 9, and Birdie Mae, 3.
The James-Deckers
Country singer Jessie James married NFL wide receiver for the Denver Broncos Eric Decker in a private ceremony in 2013. They now have three beautiful children together, Vivianne Rose, 8, Eric Thomas II, 7, and Forrest Bradley, 4.
