The next generation of supermodels is already here, and we are seeing them take over the runways over the last few years, including Leni Klum, Kaia Gerber, and of course, Lila Moss. The 19-year-old daughter of Kate Moss and media entrepreneur Jefferson Hack is starting to make a name for herself in the fashion industry.
Even though Lila was totally in charge and confident out there on the runway, Kate was the “nervous” stage mom behind the scenes when her daughter opened Miu Miu’s spring/summer 2021 show during Paris Fashion Week in 2020. “It was so emotional seeing Lila on the runway,” she revealed to British Vogue about watching her daughter’s virtually due to pandemic protocols. “Well, it wasn’t emotional — I was really nervous for her. I was sitting around the kitchen table…Some girlfriends [were there] and we were waiting for the show to start on the link. When she came out, we were like, ‘She’s doing it! She’s doing it!’ Yeah, I was really proud.”
Lila, who eased her way from doing editorial photoshoots into doing Fashion Week, looks up to her mom and appreciates the advice she has given her along the way. “The best lesson she has taught me is to ‘work hard, be polite to everyone I meet, and to always make sure you’re comfortable with whatever you’re doing,’ ” she told InStyle. Those are great life lessons and are surely setting her up for success in the fashion industry. From the looks of it, she’s on her way to superstardom, just like her mom.
