These Golden Gowns Were the Unofficial Uniform of This Year’s Met Gala

When we heard the theme for the 2022 Met Gala was going to be Gilded Glamour, we were ready to see corsets, jewels, full skirts, symbolic sartorial statements, and more depicting the fashion of the Gilded Age in America. What we didn’t expect to see was the dazzling color palette chosen by so many of the Met Gala attendees. Yes, gold was part of the assignment for so many hitting the red carpet at this year’s event. We saw the color in all different forms — accompanied with black, in ombre, and in varying fabrics.

We honestly loved seeing this subtle trend pop on the Met Gala red carpet. And the way each person carried it off was wholly and uniquely their own. So, let’s break it down for you. When we saw Chlöe Bailey hit the red carpet, our jaws practically hit the floor. Her structured gold gown was a true work of art on the young performer, who carried it with total confidence.

Then there was Rachel Brosnahan’s dress. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star looked so elegant in her gold gown, which featured rows and rows of sequins. There was absolutely no denying it‚ these gowns were dripping in gold. We were such a fan of this trend, we rounded up some of our favorite looks worn by attendees who rocked the color.
