In just a few short weeks, Meghan Markle will be back in the UK with husband Prince Harry and their two young kids, Archie and Lilibet, the latter of whom will be meeting the Queen (her namesake!) for the very first time. In the meantime, their social calendar as a Santa Barbara “it” couple is filling up nicely, and Meghan’s recent appearance cheering on Harry at a local polo tournament has us newly excited for the fashion we’ll be treated to at the Platinum Jubilee in June. Who could forget Meghan’s thrilling array of royal looks during her brief time among senior members of The Firm, culminating in her spectacular emerald ensemble at the 2020 Commonwealth Day Service? Stepping out this weekend in a chic polka-dot blouse, oversized hat, and a red lip that would make Marilyn Monroe proud, Meghan reminded us of the effortlessly classic style we can expect across the pond — even though she and Harry will reportedly be staying as far away from the cameras as they can on this royal excursion.
While Prince Harry’s polo team, Les Padres, sweated it out in the field, Meghan enjoyed a view of the match from the sidelines while hanging out with friend and former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer. After Harry’s team won the match and snagged the Lisle Nixon Memorial trophy, Meghan presented the award to the team, and then some — affectionately grabbing Harry’s face and kissing him, then laughing and wiping her red lipstick off in a rare moment of PDA for the now-private couple (see photos of the kiss HERE).
And while Meghan certainly has a style that’s all her own, she does have one royal predecessor whose fondness for polka dots is also well-documented: Princess Diana, who both wore many a memorable polka dot ensemble and presented her royal husband with a polo award from time to time during her royal tenure. Read on for the best photos of Meghan and Harry’s polo appearance below.
Meghan’s Classic Polo Look

Harry Hard at Work
Harry has been a polo player for much of his life — a favorite royal family pastime he shares with Prince William, Prince Charles, Prince Philip, and many before him.
Meghan’s Fashion Fits Right In
While Meghan’s style may have stood out for its flawless execution, a quick snapshot of the crowd proves she was perfectly dressed for the event, milling through a sea of polka dot prints and dark hats.
Harry Closes In on the Win
Harry plays on this polo team alongside longtime friend Nacho Figueras, who attended Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding and has been an ally as they figure out their royal exit.
Meghan’s Possible Inspiration
While Meghan didn’t copy a particular Diana outfit to a tee, here are just a few of the memorable times that the late Princess dazzled in a preppy polka-dot look (from left to right): on a 1991 visit to Shipley, on a 1983 visit to Newfoundland, and at the 1986 Ascot races with Prince Philip.
