After months of anticipation, the Platinum Jubilee is finally here. Celebrations are underway to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s historic 70-year reign, and the photos coming out of the United Kingdom are just as regal as you’d imagine. From the traditional Trooping the Colour, to that star-studded concert, even a few touching moments between members of the royal family, practically everything will be captured for the history books.
Now, given how long Queen Elizabeth II has been a monarch, she’s had a few jubilees at this point. But there’s something about the Platinum Jubilee that feels far more extraordinary than previous celebrations. For instance, this is the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are both back in the United Kingdom for the celebratory occasion since they made the difficult decision to take a step back from their duties as senior members of the royal family.
For this trip, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also brought their son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet. The couple’s baby girl will celebrate her first birthday amid the Platinum Jubilee festivities, and there’s already word that Queen Elizabeth will pay her great-granddaughter and namesake a visit on her birthday.
Although that special, private moment won’t be for the public’s eyes, we’re pretty sure the youngest generation of the royal family will, indeed, play a role in the celebrations. Plus, we’re anxious to see how Prince William and Kate Middleton are featured over the course of the festivities, as they usher in the next chapter for the royal family. We could look through these photos for hours, so why not take a gander yourself! See the best photos of the royal family from the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
