The Glamour Women of the Year awards are all about empowered women empowering women, and we adore them. For over three decades, the Glamour Women of the Year awards have celebrated women who “took charge, spoke out, risked their lives, made a difference.” On Nov 1, Glamour celebrated another award show to commemorate game changers and trailblazers in the world, ranging from the entertainment industry to sporting achievements.
Held at The Grill & The Pool in New York City, this year paid tribute to many incredible stars. The honorees were: Angela Bassett for the Lifetime Achievement Award, Chloe Kim for the Daring to Disrupt Award, EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson, and the girl band HAIM, to name a few.
Bassett gave a tremendously powerful speech, ending it by saying, “I accept this tremendous honor, Women of the Year, for my daughter, Bronwyn, who I remind every day that she is beautiful, worthy, strong and that she is enough. Together, we stand. We all stand courageous, and fearless, we stand determined, resilient, persistent, and especially in the face of anyone who dares to underestimate us. I encourage you, and in the words of my character Queen Ramonda, to always show them who you are. Thank you.”
Past winners of the Women of the Year award include stars like Christina Aguilera, Law & Order’s SVU lead Mariska Hargitay, Lady Gaga, and more.
Not only is it about the incredible feminist moments and honoring amazing women, but the red carpet fashion is something out of a sartorial dream! From pristine and show-stopping suits to vibrant gowns, this red carpet was a can’t-miss event!
