When Hollywood decides to adapt a beloved novel for the screen, fans may not totally be on board. After all, when someone reads a gripping novel, they imagine the story in their heads and watching it on screen, be it on TV or in the theaters, can feel either reassuring or confusing.
But, as Reese Witherspoon has proved multiple times, if anyone can adapt a novel well it’s her production company Hello Sunshine. Following the success of Where the Crawdads Sing and Little Fires Everywhere, Witherspoon’s company is producing the TV show for, out soon on March 3.
The novel, written by Taylor Jenkins Reid, follows the titular character, a young singer who loves rock ‘n’ roll. While Daisy’s star is on the rise, Billy Dunne, the leader of the band The Six, gets some shocking news: his girlfriend is pregnant. Eventually, Daisy and Billy cross paths and begin working together. The two create beautiful music and become a cultural phenomenon.
In the TV adaptation, which will be available on Prime Video, Riley Keough will be playing Daisy, Sam Claflin is Billy and his girlfriend Camila will be played by Camila Morrone.
