Unsurprisingly, women over 40 are absolutely dominating Hollywood recently. Whether it’s Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis in Everything Everywhere All at Once or the incredible Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lisa Ann Walter for their work in Abbott Elementary, veteran actresses are more successful than ever this awards season.
At Feb 26’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, these stars and many others shined bright on the red carpet. “We love representing our actors and doing what we do,” Lee Ralph told hosts at the Entertainment Weekly red carpet coverage.
In addition to showing up in some showstopping looks, actresses over 40 make up a good percentage of the nominees too. In the female actor in a leading role category, for example, all but one (Ana de Armas in Blonde) are over 40: Cate Blanchett in Tár, Viola Davis in The Woman King, Danielle Deadwyler in Till and Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Talk about history being made!
