Last night, Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett said (per Variety), “Costume designers are the ultimate partners in filmmaking,” — and we couldn’t agree more. Costume designers are the ones who truly make a project extraordinary, with the amount of detail and work that goes into creating the fantastical looks for each character. And last night, for the CDG Awards, so many designers were honored for their work!
On Feb 27, actors and costume designers alike arrived in style at the Fairmont Century Plaza for the esteemed 25th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards (or CDGAs, as they’re more commonly known!) There were a lot of winners last night, including projects like Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Wednesday, Elvis, and Everything Everywhere All at Once winning big!
Now, as you can imagine, there were some seriously fun threads on the red carpet, but there was actually a theme with a lot of them. In case you missed it, a lot of attendees used the #NakedWithoutUs hashtag incorporated in their outfits, showing their solidarity in fighting for pay equity with costume designers.
From Christina Ricci’s daring silk look to Cate Blanchett’s deliciously dark ensemble, this red carpet was a must-see!
