If you haven’t gotten around to watching Yellowjackets yet, you’re missing out. The show, which garnered almost overnight success after the premiere of its freshman season, is about to release its second season – and things are going to get a lot more interesting.
In a quick summary, the show follows the story of a handful of teenagers who survived in the wild for 19 months after a horrifying plane crash. Throughout the series, the plot switches from 1996 and 2021 as it contrasts the teenagers’ brutal survival with their grown-up selves. And, unexpectedly, their adult selves begin getting blackmailed by an anonymous stalker who haunts them with what really went down in the woods.
“In season 1, they were running away from what happened in the woods,” co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco told Entertainment Weekly. “I think this season they’re going to get caught. Their only path to continued survival is to integrate their worst selves into who they truly are.”
The show’s main star Melanie Lynskey also teased what’s to come in the new season for her character, Shauna. “She’s buried something fundamental about herself very deep inside,” Lynskey told EW. “You see it starting to unravel as she experiments with doing things that are risky, and eventually doing things that are very dangerous. I think season 2 is trying to put the tiger back into the cage if she can.”
As we await the series’ season 2, which premieres on Showtime on March 26 at 9 p.m. ET, check out what the stars wore to the star-studded premiere below!
