Don’t get us wrong, saying “I love you” and sharing the appreciation you have for your partner every day is ultra-valuable, but there’s something extra about saying it officially in a vow renewal ceremony. After all, it’s a moment where a couple can look back at the marriage they’ve created for themselves, and reestablish their relationship in front of friends and family.
When it comes to many of our favorite celebrity couples, vow renewals have come up in a variety of different ways. For Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, or Jay-Z and Beyoncé, for example, the ceremony was a celebration of their 10-year wedding anniversary, marking a major milestone.
For other celebrity couples, like Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg and former couple Heidi Klum and Seal, vow renewals happened every year to mark their anniversary. After all, who said once a year was too many?
Most recently, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools renewed their vows during a beautiful family occasion in the Maldives. “Yep After 23 years together, we thought it would be a special moment to celebrate renewing our wedding vows before the kids all start leaving the nest,” the chef wrote on Instagram.
Take a look at all the celebrity couples who renewed their vows below!
Chrissy Teigen & John Legend
Celebrating their 10-year anniversary, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend just recently renewed their vows. “It was very romantic,” a source told People. “They arrived by boat. It was breathtaking to see them still so happy together.”
In photos of the ceremony obtained by Page Six, Teigen could be seen wearing two dresses: a black lace long-sleeved gown from Zuhair Murad and a ruffled off-the-shoulder black dress with white details. Legend, for his part, wore a white tux with a black bowtie and matching trouseres. As for the location, the parents of four renewed their vows in the same place of their 2013 wedding: Lake Como, Italy. Congrats to the happy couple!
Rod Stewart & Penny Lancaster
Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster, who first got married in 2007, renewed their vows for the second time earlier this year during Stewart’s Australian tour. “They wanted to do this years ago but, just like his Aussie tour, that’s been another thing on hold,” a friend of the pair told Now to Love. “Now they can’t wait and are using this chance to do something special while here.’
The source continued, “They love Australia and have incredibly happy family memories of their time there when the boys were little. They think there’s something magical about Australia and want to exchange new marriage vows there. Penny’s made Rod a very happy man and he can’t wait to celebrate their against-all-odds union.”
Jamie & Jools Oliver
Jamie Oliver made us all swoon when he shared on Instagram that he and his longtime wife Jools had tied the knot yet again. “Morning all, Me & @joolsoliver got married again!” the chef wrote.
“Yep After 23 years together, we thought it would be a special moment to celebrate renewing our wedding vows before the kids all start leaving the nest,” he continued, alongside beautiful pictures of them and their five kids at the ceremony. “It was really special, funny and romantic with the words in the ceremony making more sense having come this far together. It seems like a blink since the first wedding which we kept very private apart from the paparazzi at the village church we thought it would be a happy and joyful moment to share with you all this Easter. We’ve always dreamed of going to the Maldives and it was just as you would have dreamed, simply amazing!”
Portia de Rossi & Ellen DeGeneres
Portia de Rossi surprised former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres with their very own vow renewal ceremony while celebrating de Rossi’s birthday in February 2023.
“Portia surprised me at her birthday party by renewing our vows,” DeGeneres wrote on Instagram alongside a video of the special moment. “Thank you @KrisJenner for officiating and @BrandiCarlile for performing, and Portia for being the greatest gift to me, even on your birthday.” So sweet!
Luciana Barroso & Matt Damon
After marrying for the first time in 2005 in an ultra-private ceremony, Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso renewed their vows in 2013.
“It’s nice to say your vows in front of family,” the Air star told People. “That’s the point of taking the vows. These are people who will hold you to them. One of my vows was I gave her the side of the bed closer to the bathroom. And if I don’t stick to that, I’m gonna hear about that from my mom, brother and father.”
Viola Davis & Julius Tennon
Speaking of Air stars, Viola Davis and Julius Tennon also renewed their wedding vows in 2016. By then, the two had already been married for 13 years since their first wedding in 2003.
“‘We are most alive when we’re in love.’ -John Updike,” Davis captioned on Instagram a picture of the two on their special day. “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
Jessica Biel & Justin Timberlake
Marking their 10th wedding anniversary in October 2022, Jessica Biel revealed on Instagram Story that she and husband Justin Timberlake had secretly renewed their vows in Italy, per Us Weekly. “From our vow renewal this summer in Italy where it all went down,” she wrote alongside a picture of the two dressed in white on the big day.
LeAnn Rimes & Eddie Cibrian

Steph & Ayesha Curry
Back in 2021, Steph Curry surprised his wife Ayesha with a gorgeous vow renewal ceremony alongside their family. “A couple of weeks ago @stephencurry30 surprised me with the most beautiful vow renewal ceremony,” the cookbook author wrote on Instagram alongside pictures of the moment. “He even picked out my dress for me and had it waiting 😭. Our big girl Riley officiated and Ryan and Canon walked me through the grass of our backyard. It’s everything I’ve always dreamed of but didn’t know could be possible in this way. A moment I will never forget. I love you @stephencurry30.”
David & Victoria Beckham
Following their lavish wedding in 1999, David and Victoria Beckham kept it simple for their vow renewal. “We did throw a lot at [our first wedding],” the former soccer star told Desert Island Discs in 2017, per InStyle. “We have renewed our vows since then and it was a lot more private—there was about six people there in our house.”
Beyoncé & Jay-Z
To celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary, Beyoncé and Jay-Z renewed their vows in 2018. “At 36, I became a new mother of three. I breastfed my twins. I renewed my vows with my husband of 10 years,” Beyoncé wrote on her website at the time, per Us Weekly.
Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne
Almost two months before their 35th anniversary in 2017, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas. “For me, this was actually our real wedding day,” Ozzy told HELLO! Magazine. “This is the one that I will remember. Sharon and I have been through so much, and this honestly feels like a new beginning.”
Jenny McCarthy & Donnie Wahlberg
Who said vow renewals shouldn’t happen every year? For Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg, vow renewals are as common as wedding anniversaries and we just love to see it. “Every year you surprise me with our vows and every year I fall deeper into the rabbit hole of love with you,” McCarthy captioned a video on Instagram from their 2022 ceremony. “Thank you for making our love a priority and making everyday feel like the most ultimate adventure with my best friend, lover and soulmate. You are the #GOAT of all husbands. I love you Donnie and Happy Anniversary, my love. ❤️”
Heidi Klum & Seal
Much like McCarthy and Wahlberg, former couple Heidi Klum and Seal used to renew their wedding vows every year since their 2005 ceremony.
“I think I got married eight times to Seal,” Klum joked to the Sunday Times. “I thought it would be kind of, like, fun.”
The two split in 2012. “I thought it would be a fest of love. But you know, that doesn’t work either,” the supermodel added. “I tried, you can’t say I didn’t try!”
Kim Kardashian & Kanye West
Former couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West also recommitted to one another back in 2019 for their fifth wedding anniversary. Though the pair kept the occasion totally off-camera, the SKIMS founder went on to the first line of her vows onscreen on her show: “You are my husband. You are my best friend. My biggest believer and my one true love.” The pair later broke up in 2021.
