After weeks of updates, and months of guessing, it seems King Charles III has finally chosen who will be headlining his historical coronation. (And truly, no one saw this choice coming!) After rejection after rejection, the firm has decided to spread its search to non-British folks to perform at the show. While we would’ve adored seeing Snoop Dogg as the headliner, it seems they’ve landed on another beloved, Grammy-nominated singer: Katy Perry.

You read that right: Perry will be one of the headliners for the coronation! On April 14, the BBC announced, per People, she would be headlining the long-awaited Coronation Concert that will be held on May 7.

Now, many fans have been wondering: how did the firm land on Perry as the headliner? Well, you can look at the fact that she’s been nominated for 13 Grammys over her impressive career, along with the fact that she foes elaborate performances (which will be sure to help Charles’ goal of modernizing the firm!) However, many fans realized that this wouldn’t be the first time Perry and Charles have worked together.

For those that don’t know, Perry is an ambassador of The British Asian Trust. If this sounds familiar, it’s because it’s a charity co-founded by Charles to tackle poverty in South Asia.

We have a feeling this may be one of Perry’s most talked-about performances, and we can’t wait to see what she does for the big day!

Along with Perry, quite a few other familiar faces will be joining in the historic concert. See all of the details below:
