If you’re a fan of TV shows like us, you know this year has given us some incredible shows. From the ever-so-catchy Prime Video show Daisy Jones & The Six, to the hilarious Freevee production Jury Duty to the nail-biting family drama of Succession, viewers have been thoroughly entertained, regardless of the genre or the platform.
And, on July 12, the 2023 Emmy nominations were finally announced and the actors behind all these incredible shows finally received their much-deserved praise. Daisy Jones & The Six‘s Camila Morrone, for example, couldn’t contain her excitement on social media with her first-ever nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie. “Happiest, most grateful human ever,” Morrone wrote on Instagram alongside pictures of her smiling from ear to ear. “I could have never expected this in my wildest dreams. Wishing I could hug every single one of my cast mates, crew, show runners, writers right now.”
The Bear‘s Ayo Edebiri also took to Instagram to celebrate her Supporting Actress In a Comedy Series nomination alongside her co-stars and fellow nominees Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. “the greatest honor alongside the greatest crew,” the actress wrote in the caption. “no words — just innumerable thanks 🥺 lots of love. woooohoooooo :’)”

‘Succession’
Starting off the list with a bang, HBO’s Succession topped the nominations today with a staggering 27 total nominations. In addition to being the second-most nods a series has ever scored, per Deadline, the family drama also made history by snagging three separate Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series nominations for Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong.
‘Fleishman Is in Trouble’
Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Claire Danes and Lizzy Caplan, Hulu’s Fleishman Is in Trouble follows Toby (Eisenberg), a recently divorced doctor who’s finally getting the hang of jumping back into the dating world when his ex-wife Rachel (Danes) disappears. The series was nominated for six Emmys including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Lead Actress.
‘Abbott Elementary’
After two wins last year, Abbott Elementary is proving they’re a force to be reckoned with once again with eight nominations this year, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress. The show, created by Quinta Brunson, follows a group of teachers and their many ups and downs in a public school in Philadelphia.
‘Jury Duty’
Speaking of making history, Jury Duty is officially the first free streaming service show to receive a major series Primetime Emmy nominations. In addition to Outstanding Comedy Series, the Freevee series was also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor, Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Casting. In a nutshell, the series follows Ronald Gladden, an innocent contractor who’s summoned to fake jury duty with actors playing the jurors, plaintiffs and even the judge.
‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, led by Rachel Brosnahan and Alex Borstein, tells the story of the anything-but-traditional housewife-turned-comedian Midge Maisel. With this past season being its last, the pressure was high for nominations. Unsurprisingly, though, the Prime Video show received a whopping 14 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Directing.
‘Better Call Saul’
Better Call Saul, which received six nominations today, follows Saul (Bob Odenkirk), a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. The show’s nominations include Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actress.
‘The Bear’
FX’s The Bear came out with a bang this year with 13 nominations in their first year. The show, which tells the story of a troubled chef reconstructing the family business after the death of his brother, received major nods including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor, Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actor.
‘Ted Lasso’
Apple TV+ hit Ted Lasso, which released its third and final season earlier this year, won a whopping 21 Emmy nominations today. That’s right, 21! Among the nominations from the show, which tells the story of a Southern coach (Jason Sudeikis) moving to the U.K. to coach soccer, were Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor, two Outstanding Supporting Actor nods and three separate Outstanding Guest Actress nominations.
‘Only Murders in the Building’
Only Murders in the Building, which follows the story of three neighbors (Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez) as they solve crimes in their building, won nine nominations today. Among the nods were Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Guest Actor.
‘Yellowjackets’
The Showtime original series Yellowjackets is not for the faint of heart. The series, which follows a group of teenagers after a terrifying plane crash, and their adult selves dealing with the consequences, got three nominations today: Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Casting.
‘Daisy Jones & The Six’
Based on a novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & The Six follows a somewhat dysfunctional group of musicians as they become the biggest band in the world in the 70s. The Prime Video series got nine nominations, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actress.
‘Wednesday’
Starring Jenna Ortega, Netflix’s Wednesday tells the Tim Burton spin on Wednesday Addams as she enrolls in the Nevermore Academy. The series received 12 nominations today including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Directing.
‘Andor’
Starring Diego Luna and Stellan Skarsgård, Andor tells the story of Cassian as he embarks on the path that is destined to turn him into a Rebel hero. The Disney+ production received eight nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing.
‘House of the Dragon’
House of the Dragon, an HBO series that follows the succession war within House Targaryen decades before the events in Game of Thrones, scored nine Emmy nominations. In addition to Outstanding Drama Series, the series also scored Outstanding Cinematography, Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes and Outstanding Production Design.
‘The Last of Us’
Following closely behind Succession in the nomination leaderboard is the fellow HBO show The Last of Us with 24 nominations today. Among the nods were Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Pedro Pascal and Outstanding Lead Actress for non-binary actor Bella Ramsey. The show follows the story of a survivor of a global fatal pandemic as he takes in a 14-year-old girl.
‘The Crown’
The Crown, a Netflix series that tells the story behind the British royal family, won six nominations today including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress. In the last season of the show, viewers watched Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and King Charles’ (Dominic West) marriage crumble as Charles’ affair with Queen Camilla left them no option but to divorce.
‘The White Lotus’
The White Lotus, which won big last year with 10 Emmy wins, might be heading to a similar path with 23 nominations for season two alone. Among the nominations of the show, which followed guests at an Italian hotel, were Outstanding Drama Series and a whopping five different Outstanding Supporting Actress nominations.
‘Beef’
The Netflix hit Beef, which follows two people as they get more and more consumed by a road rage incident, scored 11 nominations today. In addition to Outstanding Comedy Series, the show also received Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress for their leads Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.
‘Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’
Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which tells the eerie story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, received 11 nominations. Among the nods was Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for Evan Peters and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Niecy Nash.
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’
Starring Ewan McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi tells the story of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi as he attempts to save young Leia after she is kidnapped. The Disney+ series won four nominations including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes.
‘Barry’
Created and starred by Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader, Barry also got many nods (11, to be exact. Among its nominations were Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and two Outstanding Supporting Actor nods. The show follows Barry, a U.S. Marine and Afghanistan veteran who works as a hitman and wrestles with loneliness and guilt he gets from his unconventional job.
