Amy Adams, Elizabeth Banks, & More Celebrities at the SAG-AFTRA & WGA Strikes

by

We are in a historic time in the entertainment world, and so much is up in the air. Back on March 20, 2023, the Writers Guild of America (or WGA) began negotiations and within a month, the guild authorized their strikes. Since then, so much has happened in Hollywood, and on June 5, a game-changer was on the horizon. Per ETOnline, the labor union of Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (or SAG-AFTRA) authorized a potential strike, and then less than a month later, on July 13, they joined the strike with WGA.

Since this strike started, many celebrities have voiced their support for the strike and its objective. Before we get into which celebrities have shown their solidarity, many have wondered: why are they striking?

WGA started striking after contract negotiations collapsed over residual payments to writers, and SAG-AFTRA joined after the same occurred. Along with residual payments, they’re striking for better working conditions and more.

While quite a few big stars have shown their solidarity with WGA since April, more have joined in with the WGA & SAG-AFTRA strikes within the past few weeks. While many A-listers have commented on their stance and left an open letter threatening to strike like Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep, per ETOnline, a plethora of stars have started joining in on the strikes!

From SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher to Communityalums, so many stars are showing their support by striking! Check out which celebrities have been photographed showing their support for the historic SAG-AFTRA & WGA strikes below:
