When two people go through a breakup, no matter how tough it is, being able to be friends with one another is one of the biggest signs of maturity. After all, they managed to put their past behind them to continue respecting each other to be in each other’s lives.
Even more than that, some celebrities took maturity to a whole new level as some celebrities became friends with their ex’s current partners. Among our favorite celebrity duos that fit that bill are Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom‘s ex-wife, and Katy Perry, Bloom’s fiancée, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin‘s ex-wife, and Dakota Johnson, Martin’s girlfriend, and Demi Moore with both of the current wives of his exes, Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.
Check out all the stars who are besties with their ex’s partners below!
Taylor Swift & Tay Lautner

For Tay Lautner, a longtime Taylor Swift fan, being friends with her when she married Taylor Lautner was a no-brainer. Most recently, at the Eras Tour show in Kansas City, the three showed just how mature they are as they walked onstage and posed for pictures together. In our favorite shot of the night, the three Taylors are seen reenacting the classic Spider-Man meme. “Tonight was wild,” the Twilight alum wrote in the Instagram caption.
Katy Perry & Miranda Kerr
Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom’s fiancée, and Miranda Kerr, Bloom’s ex-wife, get along amazingly well. In an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, for example, Kerr shared her appreciation for the “Roar” singer. “I adore Katy and I just feel so happy that Orlando has found someone that makes his heart so happy, because at the end of the day, for [our son] Flynn to have a happy father and a happy mother is just the most important thing,” Kerr said.
Earlier this year, the two even attended the 2023 G’Day USA Arts Gala together in which Perry gave a speech about Kerr before she received her honor. “I loved celebrating my fav 🇦🇺Aussie Aussie Aussie 🇦🇺 (oi oi oi!) & sister from another mister,” Perry wrote on Instagram in a series of photos and videos from the night. “I love our modern family.”
Emma Heming & Demi Moore
Demi Moore, who was married to Bruce Willis from 1987 to 2000, has a great friendship with Willis’ current wife Emma Heming. On International Women’s Day, for example, Moore talked about their connection in an Instagram appreciation post.
“I #SeeHer as family who I am honored to call a friend,” Moore wrote in the caption. “Our children are sisters and yet there is no name for what our family connection is to one another. We are mothers united, sisters bonded on this crazy adventure of life. Emma is a beautiful mother dedicated to her family, an absolutely gorgeous woman and now she can add business entrepreneur to her resume.” Such a sweet post!
Mila Kunis & Demi Moore
Speaking of Demi Moore, the Ghost star also has a great connection with another current partner of an ex, Mila Kunis. Last year, for example, the two starred in an AT&T Fiber commercial that poked fun at the fact that they dated the same person (Ashton Kutcher) and went to the same high school. “I thought it would bring humor and laughs to what was already a great ad,” Kunis told Entertainment Tonight. “I reached out to her and was so delighted she jumped on board. Now we’re just working on becoming gigillionaires.”
Gwyneth Paltrow & Dakota Johnson
Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow is also close to her ex-husband Chris Martin’s current girlfriend Dakota Johnson. “I love her,” Paltrow told Harper’s Bazaar in 2020. “I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.” So sweet!
Nikki Reed & Nina Dobrev
After plenty of speculation from the media, Nikki Reed set the record straight in 2017 that she is friends with Nina Dobrev, her husband Ian Somerhalder’s ex. “So here’s to putting an end to all those fake stories of on-set jealousy, betrayal, made-up-friendships lost & women hating women,” Reed wrote on Instagram. “Because at the end of the day, that’s what this is about: teaching girls that you have to hate other girls only breeds a generation of women who believe you have to hate other women.”
Drew Barrymore & Alexandra Michler
In an episode of Armchair Expert, Drew Barrymore shared her admiration for her ex-husband Will Kopelman’s current wife Alexandra Michler. “I just feel like I won the lottery with her, like, I really did,” the TV host said. “I feel like I’m lucky that there’s this new beautiful soul that came into our lives.”
Although Barrymore added that the two are understandably not “best friends,” she said Michler “knows that I absolutely worship the ground she walks on, and I’m her biggest cheerleader.”
Samantha Bryant & Busy Philipps
For Colin Hanks and Busy Philipps, having a relationship in college never stopped them from hanging out many years later. In fact, during an appearance in Live With Kelly, Philips said Hanks’ wife Samantha Bryant and her ex-husband Marc Silverstein were totally on board. “We are very, very close friends now — his wife and I are tight, he and my husband hang out,” the actress revealed, adding that the four even went on vacations together.
Sophie Turner & Taylor Swift
In addition to being friends, Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift are fans of each other’s work too. In 2021, for example, Turner raved about Swift’s rerecorded song, Mr. Perfectly Fine, which was rumored to be based on Turner’s husband, and Swift’s ex, Joe Jonas. “It’s not NOT a bop,” Turner wrote on Instagram, per Teen Vogue. Longtime Game of Thrones fan Swift then reposted the story and wrote: “Forever bending the knee for the queen of the North.”
Jada Pinkett Smith & Sheree Zampino
In 2021, Will Smith’s first wife Sheree Zampino was the first guest of Jada Pinkett-Smith’s talk show Red Table Talk. “When I think about our relationship now, there’s a real sisterhood there, but it took 20-some years,” Pinkett Smith said. “Like, Ree has acceptance for me and all my nonsense. I have acceptance for her and all her nonsense. There’s a real beautiful sisterhood there.”
Megan Fox & Sharna Burgess
Megan Fox, who was married to Brian Austin Green for almost a decade, proved just how mature she was when she began co-parenting with Green and his new partner Sharna Burgess. “I think people make a mistake in life of thinking that it’s not going to affect the kids if they do a certain thing, and it’s going to affect the kids no matter what,” Green told Us Weekly. “The only thing you really have control over is how it affects the kids, and luckily, Megan and I have been fantastic. Megan and Sharna have a fantastic relationship.”
Jason Momoa & Lenny Kravitz
Although now both Jason Momoa and Lenny Kravitz are Lisa Bonet’s exes, the two totally got along when Momoa and Bonet were still an item. “People can’t believe how tight Jason and I are, or how tight I still am with Zoë’s mom, how we all relate,” Kravitz told Men’s Health in 2020. “We just do it because that’s what you do. You let love rule, right? I mean, obviously, after a breakup, it’s work—it takes some work and time, healing and reflection, et cetera. But as far as Jason and I? Literally the moment we met, we were like, ‘Oh, yeah. I love this dude.'” How sweet is that?
